Omens of War Leveling Guide 1 - 35

Once Planes of Power hits you'll be able to use the PoK books and travel to any noob zone you'd like in a matter of minutes! This really simplifies the first 15 levels and kind of negates the need for me to cover them with a different leveling guide for each race like I have been doing.

Most players are going to spend the first 15 levels in a noobie zone they feel comfortable in. If you can't make up your mind my personal favorite choice is always Misty Thicket. I stay on the right hand side of the wall closer to Rivervale until about level 8. The rats in the pens to the north and south of Rivervale are great for those 5+. After you reach level 8 go to the far side of the wall, closer to the Runnyeye Entrance.

You'll find Goblins, Orcs, Dark Elves and other enemies over here for you to kill which will easily take you to level 12 - 13. You can push level 15 here if you want by killing Orcs or Dark Elves - and you may need too unless you have twink gear. If you need more ideas or locations feel free to use my Classic, Kunark, Velious or Luclin leveling guides which list all the different locations you can choose from 1 - 15.

Before moving on from the noob zone to Paludal Caverns you should take a trip over to The Bazaar and purchase some twink gear. It's extremely important that you have gear for the levels coming up and there are some fairly cheap pieces you should be able to grab out of The Bazaar depending on your server's population.

15 - 25 Paludal Caverns
10 - 30 Unrest (Weakest Mobs)
20 - 35 Castle Mistmoore
15 - 25 OoT Undead (most antisocial)
20 - 25 Marus Seru
20 - 25 Netherbian Lair

25 - 35 The Overthere
30 - 35 Gunthak Harbor
30 - 35 Rathe Mountains
25 - 35 Crypt of Dalnir
30 - 37 Dreadlands
25 - 35 Castle Mistmoore
25 - 35 Lavastorm Basilisks (most antisocial)

OoW Leveling Guide 35 - 55

Depending on how well your character is geared and if you're a boxer or not determines the next place(s) you should level up at. You should take into account what expansion the zone was added that you want to level up in. Level 30 - 35 monsters during Classic Everquest for example won't hit nearly as hard or have as much HP as level 30 - 35 Luclin enemies.

If you have really crappy gear and aren't boxing then I strongly recommend you avoid Velious, Luclin, LoY or any of the more recent zones unless you've a group. The monsters in those zones will practically wipe the floor with you compared to stuff you can find in Classic and Kunark.

Alternatively you could also consider hunting Rathe Hill Giants for a bit to afford some gear while you're LFG. You'll still get some EXP if you're still in your 30s while you're here and you'll definitely get some plat for gear which will make soloing significantly easier in the future.

35 - 45 City of Mist
35 - 45 Crypt of Dalnir
35 - 50 Lower Guk
35 - 45 OoT Cyclops Islans (Weakest enemies)
35 - 45 Karnor's Castle
35 - 45 Dreadlands (Great for Kiting)
35 - 45 Velketor's Labyrinth

45 - 55 Old Sebilis
45 - 55 Chardok
45 - 55 Burning Woods
45 - 55 OoT Elite Goblin Isle (Most Antisocial)
45 - 60 The Hole
45 - 55 Velketor's Labyrinth
45 - 60 Acrylia Caverns (Best EXP Least Money)
50 - 55 Siren's Grotto
45 - 55 Dragon Necropolis

Once you reach level 55 you'll be well within range of grouping with max level players. You won't be much use to any high level groups at this time but if you have some friends who wouldn't mind letting you leech some EXP - you're able to do that now! Maybe you can even get some rots if you're lucky.

Those of you without any one to ask for help will just have to do things the old fashion way! Before progressing ahead in levels too far I also recommend you stop and grind out some of the more essential AAs for your class. If you're someone who takes melee damage from enemies whatsoever you're going to want Combat Agility and Stability before reaching 70+ if you hope to solo anything.

Also do not forget you can check The Bazaar from anywhere in the game now with /baz! I strongly recommend you check multiple times a day for new gear, especially during prime time hours. 50 - 70 opens up a lot of different options with gear that has Recommended or Required levels on it. These pieces of gear are usually rather good and quite cheap due to the restrictions.

OoW Leveling Guide 55 - 60

This next bracket of leveling locations is going to take a pretty mighty spike in difficulty if you've previously only been hunting in Classic/Kunark zones. The options for soloing really start to slow down - you can most likely handle the entrance area of Old Sebilis during this level range with almost any class. That will be decent money and EXP in a location that you might even find a group!

Plane of Justice (Dungeon Crawl) Small Group/boxer/Solo - PoJ is one of the starter zones in PoP. Other zones in PoP offer better loot and XP however this zone is quite easy and generally has a decent amount of people in during this era. If you're LFG and unable to be of use in later elemental planes, try here first!

Plane of Nightmare (Field Killing) Kiting/Small Group/Boxer - This is a great zone for groups who don't have any of the primary roles. If you're without heals, tank or CC this zone is fairly solo friendly, much more than other PoP zones. It has a decent amount of room to kite and root rot adds if needed. It also has a tunnel of Hobgoblins for higher levels.

Siren's Grotto (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer Fellspine + lots of velious quest gems and Tradeskill gems. Both of which you can vendor for an insane amount of plat for how many drop- There are a few good camps in Siren's Grotto, one of the best would be Fellspine for his Spiked Seahorse Hide Belt. You'll be able to net a pretty penny for the belt for awhile to come. The zonewide ink that drops here is worth keeping to sell in the bazaar. Drums of the Beast, Sleeves of the Kelpmaidens, and other goodies drop here too!

Dragon Necropolis - Boxer/Antisocial zone - The Phase Spiders here are fairly easy to kill and they all have a chance of dropping a Phase Spider Carapace which you could sell or use. Also there is a named Phase Spider in the eastern part of the zone, Queen Raltaas. She is very hard and drops Queen's Carapace. In the southern part of the zone you have snakes which is where Vilefang is and then you also have the Chetari rats which drop a few semi valuable things depending on your economy.

Grieg's End (Dungeon Crawl) - Group/Boxer - This is a great zone for XP and is very frequented by higher level players 50 - 60. Unlike many zones you're used to Grieg's End doesn't really have nameds that spawn in just 1 location. The nameds here spawn in a large radius and can spawn in place of any monster you kill in that radius (assuming that the named isn't already spawned elsewhere in the zone). Greig's End doesn't have the best vendor trash nor the best loot but it falls somewhere inbetween on both.

Most of the loot from Greig's End has a level recommendation for it which greatly decreases its sell value. If you want a location that gives items to sell in The Bazaar as well as XP this may not be the best location for you. Here are some of the items that drop here: Ring of Lunacy, Mantle of Distraction, Pantaloons of Derangement, Helm of Senselessness, Book of Impracticality, Gauntlets of Dementia and more

Umbral Plains (Field Killing) Group/Boxer/Solo - This zone is definitely one of the best locations added in Luclin for both XP and loot. The mobs here hit very hard when you compare them to non Luclin content and have a ton of HP so I wouldn't recommend this location if you're under geared, under leveled or no AAs. You will get a ton of vendor drops here as well as decent NO DROP armor pieces that are on par with Classic Planar Gear. On top of those goodies you'll also find many Luclin spells and lots of really good gear that has no level recommendation on it.

Here are some examples of the loot that you can get in Umbral Plains: Wretched Pauldrons, Skull Marked Shield, Dream Weaver Webshield, Crown of the Hive, Gantru Charm, Flesh Eater's Eye, Vah Shir Skin Robe, Helm of Raldukan, Hive Fiend's Brain and much more - this is just the tip of the iceberg!

OoW Leveling Guide 60 - 65

The last 5 levels - it's been awhile since we've had anything but AAs to grind and we'll be waiting awhile again at level 65 before the level 70 cap added later in Omens of War. The locations below can be used for players looking to level up and grind AAs for this level range. The easiest locations are listed first while the more the list descends, the harder they get! Or so I try to make it that way anyway!

Keep in mind you will absolutely need to be geared at this point - if you're still running around half naked without good gear you'll be unable to solo much without having to take extremely long med breaks and any groups you join you'll drag them down. Gearing is extremely important - just do it.

Plane of Disease (Field Killing) Solo/Boxer/Group - Plane of Disease will be one of the few zones you can enter in the PoP X-pac without any flagging and that makes it one of the best/earliest zones to solo in! If you're a solo player or a small time boxer you shouldn't have too much difficulty single pulling and root rotting or kiting mobs here.

Plane of Nightmare (Field Killing) Solo/Boxer/Group - PoN is another one of the early zones of PoP that you don't need flags to enter and that is great for soloers (specifically kiters). You can pull mobs to the zoneline back to Plane of Tranquility and kite them with relative safety.

Plane of Innovation (Dungeon Crawl) Small Group/Boxer - Plane of Innovation is a good alternative for levels 55 - 63 if you can't find a group or other plays in PoJ, PoD or other popular zones.

Dragon Necropolis (Chetari) Group/Boxer - If you would like to be left alone this is a great location to go! The camp location will be tough for those not in a full group and those whom are under geared.

Acrylia Caverns (Dungeon Crawl) Small Group/Boxer - During these levels you'll only find the castle to still be good XP. At 63 I was still getting over 1% AA a kill in a full group and I could very easily lay waste to many of the mobs here without needing a med break

Siren's Grotto - (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer Fellspine + lots of velious quest gems and Tradeskill gems.

Old Sebilis (Lower Floors) Group/Boxer - During these levels the Juggernauts and frogloks down by Trakanon are still good XP. They are also in really old content so the liklihood of running into other people is much lower. There won't be much interest in people killing Trakanon anymore and the majority of Old seb visitors stay on the upper floors.

Crypt of Decay (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - Crypt of Decay is one of the harder PoP zon es that is good for grouping in.

Bastion of Thunder (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - Bastion of Thunder is a quite a big zone with quite a lot of different places to hunt.

Plane of Valor (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - Plane of Valor has quite a few different locations for players, you can pull from either the upper field or lower field, the Phlarg fiends in the cave... Or you can even slaughter the human NPCs here for Hero Parts which are a valuable cooking ingredient during this era.

Halls of Honor (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - Please leave me a comment if you have any information about this zone - I have never done this zone "in era" so I can't provide much of any information.

Drunder, Fortress of Zek (Dungeon Crawl/Field Killing) Group/Boxer - Drunder has a huge field area right in the center of the zone. It's basically a huge gladiator's pit which you'll have to fall into and make camp around one of the inner walls.

Plane of Fire (Field Killing) Solo Kiting/Boxer - PoF is a large zone with enough space for there to be all kinds of different groups. You can kite around the tables by in C2 if you're looking for a wide open area and a solo friendly area. Or you can grab a group/box your own group and setup in C1 or C2 and have a more Dungeon Crawl experience. Depending on your group it's entirely up to you. Also, PoFire is arguably the best exp zone in all of PoP

OoW Leveling Guide 65 - 70

As you probably already know Omens of War added another 5 levels and a bunch more AAs for you to grind. If you aren't level 65 in at least PoP group gear the OoW zones are going to pose a real issue to you without a solid group to assist you.

If you can't find a group and need to solo I recommend you stick to PoP zones or something a tad easier than what you'll find in Omens. The last thing I would like to say is I am not done with this leveling guide yet. It's hard for me to write information for an expansion I haven't done in era in over a decade.

Noble's Causeway (Dungeon Crawl/Kiting) Solo/Small groups/Boxer - One of the few zones that people commonly solo in for OoW is Noble's Causeway. The Murkgliders here don't summon and can be kite rather easily. Small groups can make quick work of the Dragorns and other enemies that are up along the causeway as well.

Bloodfields (Field Killing/Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - I don't really know much about this zone in era - if you do please leave a comment below and give me some information!

Wall of Slaughter (Field Killing/Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - Wall of Slaughter, arguably the most famous OoW zone! If you don't know this zone already it has about 8 different camps all of which are pretty darn good. You can camp the southern wall and pull a multitude of different nameds down there, as well as the Undead Murkgliders and the northern wall with a slew of other nameds.

Muramite Proving Grounds (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - This zone offers a decent dungeon crawl experience to smaller groups and/or boxers. There are a decent amount of nameds in this zone for you to kill - as far as I know there aren't too many great camp areas... There aren't enough mobs nearby for you to really stay in one spot for long. If you come here expect to me moving more often than not.

Riftseekers Sanctum (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - This is probably the most difficult zone in OoW and one you'll definitely need at least a group for. A well geared one too!
