Item Alchemy Recipes in Dragon Quest VIII
Aside from all the armor, weapon and accessory recipes there's a ton of consumable goodies that you can make with Alchemy too! You can make more powerful Medicinal Herbs with the Alchemy Pot long before you can buy them at shops and other goodies such as items that restore MP, cure status ailments and more.
There's also recipes to make a whole assortment of Cheeses with the Alchemy Pot too! Cheeses are a consumable item that can only be used on the Hero and during battle. Munchie eats the cheese and then heals your party or damages the enemy. Each cheese has a different effect, some cheeses even buff your party or debuff the enemies!
Cold Cheese Recipes (High AoE Ice-based damage)
Fire Cheese Recipes (High AoE Fire-based damage)
Other Cheeses (Buffs, Heals and Debuffs)
Premium Mould is used in a few different Alchemy Recipes, most noteably the recipes required to make some of the most powerful cheeses. Once you reach the Dragovian Sanctuary you will be able to purchase this item from the Item Shop vendor in town.
Red Mould is sold at Princess Minnie's Castle and the Argonia Bazaar
Waterweed Mould is sold at Princess Minnie's Castle and the Argonia Bazaar
Yggdrasil Leaf is found by the Yggdrasil Tree which is part of the Chateau Felix Side Quest. You can also purchase Yggdrasil Leaves at the Argonia Bazaar but you can only have one in your inventory at a time this way.
Rose-root is a consumable item which can be used in and out of battle. It restores a total of 70 - 90 HP to a single target.
Medicinal Herb is sold at almost all Item Shops throughout the game
Rose-root is a consumable item which can be used in and out of battle. It restores a total of 70 - 90 HP to a single target.
Strong Medicine is made by combining two Medicinal Herbs together in the Alchemy Pot
Medicinal Herb is sold at almost all Item Shops throughout the game
Elfin Elixir is a consumable item which fully recovers the character's MP. Very useful for extremely long fights, like the Dragovian Trials Bosses
Yggdrasil Dew is made through Alchemy by combining a Yggdrasil Leaf (Found east of Baccarat) and Magic Water
Magic Water is purchased from the Pickham Casino or Tryan Gully
Greater Panacea fully heals and cures Paralysis, Poison, Sleep and Confusion on a single target.
Lesser Panacea is made through Alchemy by combining 2 Special Medicines
Rose-root is made through Alchemy by combining 3 Medicinal Herbs in the Alchemy Pot
Rose-wort is made through Alchemy by combining 2 Medicinal Herbs and 1 Moonwort Bulb
Rose-wort heals for 60 - 80 HP and cures Paralysis from a single target.
Medicinal Herb is sold at almost all Item Shops throughout the game
Moonwort Bulb is sold at almost all Item Shops throughout the game
Sage's Stone is an item which can be used in battle to heal your entire group for 100 HP. You can use this item as many times as you would like during a single battle and it has unlimited charges. This is one of the best items in the entire game... however I don't recommend you make it using Alchemy. When you complete the Black Temple dungeon you'll find a Sage's Stone inside; there isn't much reason for you to have two of these items - just 1 is good enough. Save your Orichalcum.
Gold Nugget is obtained from Princess Minnie for turning in 52 Mini Medals or found in Godbird's Eyrie (Light/Dark)
Orichalcum is obtained from Princess Minnie for turning in 83 Mini Medals and found in Godbird's Eyrie as well
Yggdrasil Dew is made through Alchemy by combining a Yggdrasil Leaf (Found east of Baccarat) and Magic Water
Timbrel of Tension is an item you can use during battle which increases the Tension of your entire party by 1 level. This is the most important and most powerful item in the entire game that you can get for your party. Without the Timbrel of Tension the Dragovian Trials and Metal Slime Farming will be much harder. You can only make two of these throughout the entire game since you can only get two Sun Crowns but there's no need to make a second, just one of them makes you overpowered enough.
Sun Crown is obtained through Alchemy by combining a Skull Helm and Saint's Ashes
Magic Beast Hide is obtained as a random drop from many of the different beast enemies that you encounter throughout the game and on the field
Tough Guy Tattoo is purchased from the Argonia Bazaar
Yggdrasil Dew is a consumable item which heals your entire party to full HP. It's also used in making the Elfin Elixir, arguably the most important consumable for late game.
Yggdrasil Leaf is found east of Baccarat near the tree we had to visit for the Chateau Felix/Baumren's Bell Side Quest
Magic Water is purchased from the Pickham Casino or Tryan Gully
