Farming Locations (80 - 90)
Things start to get a bit harder during these levels if you want to make some decent plat. You also have to start asking yourself if you want plat now or if you want items that you'll list on your trader and sell later. The locations you'll be hunting at change depending on which of these two you'd like to do. Also, there's one last thing to take into consideration. Do you want to hunt mobs that'll give you EXP or easier mobs for the sole purpose of getting money?
I would strongly recommend you get EXP while farming during this level range because farming during this level range isn't the best use of your time. Get another 10 - 20 levels and you'll start to be making the big bucks!
Shared Valuable Loot:
Sunshard Ore (very valuable + fast selling)
Intricate Defiant Armor (fast selling + valuable) ((Weapons aren't worth crap))
Staurolite, Prestidigitase, Taaffeite & Harmonagate (moderately valuable + moderate selling) Used for easy JC Recipes to reach 300.
Cultural Ore (very valuable + fast selling)
Cultural Pelts (very valuable + fast selling)
Cultural Silk (very valuable + fast selling)
Natural Spices, Fresh Meat + Fine Feathers (valuable + moderately fast selling)
Locations sorted by difficulty (easiest first):
Western Wastes - The Dragon enemies here drop Red Dragon Scales, Cloak of Flames, Gauntlets of Fiery Might and other items that sell to people leveling up twinks. In addition to the dragons here, you'll find Velium Hounds, Ice Burrowers and Velium Mastodons. These guys will drop Tradeskill materials that you can sell for 1 - 2k a piece in The Bazaar to anyone leveling Tailoring to 350.
Crypt of Decay - This zone is best known for its mob density and high yields of vendor trash. Three different types of diamonds drop here, all of which sell to a vendor for over 200pp and you'll find an assortment of other goodies from these mobs. Two of the three types of mobs found in this zone are undead and humanoid so if you're a class that can defeat these sorts of enemies faster - it's even better!
Plane of Fire - Very high mob density, especially in C1 and C2. If Defiant Gear is dropping on your server, you'll find Intricate Defiant dropping in this zone. Add this in with the massive amounts of vendor trash and it's not too bad for a night of farming.
Howling Stones - This zone has a pretty high mob density and each enemy drops a decent amount of plat per kill. If Defiant Gear is out on your server, the loot that drops in this zone from the nameds will be worthless, unless you plan to just vendor it. On the flip side, if Defiant Gear is dropping on your server, you'll find a lot of it here.
Riftseeker's Sanctum - Lots of gems drop from here as well as an extremely rare Tradeskill item, Pyrilen Flame. It's used in the Artisan's Prize as well as hitting 350 Tradeskills which makes it rather valuable. On Firiona Vie a single one sells for 100k + easily. Most higher levels find grinding here to be too monotinous and boring so they tend to buy the Pyrilen Flames instead of farming them.
**Regular Server Hotspot** Dragonscale Hills Attuneable Gear - The vendor trash sells for a lot here and drops are plentiful. In addition to the vendor drops, most of the gear you get here will be Attuneable and Not Prestige, which means it'll sell in The Bazaar better than most of the other stuff you find.
Katta Castrum *Boxers* (Relatively Weak Enemies) - This location is meant for people who made it to level 80 or so with boxing, are in totally craptastic gear and are struggling to continue. You'll get EXP hunting at this location as well as a bunch of stuff you can vendor. The mobs here also con relatively weak which means they're total pushovers even for the most poorly geared/no AA team.
*Regular Server Hotspot* Icefall Glacier (Attuneable Gear) - Aside from the named enemies all over the field portion of the zone down south, there's one named up north, Taruskor, whose all by his lonesome and is easy to pick off.
*Regular Server Hotspot* Arcstone (Tradeable Gear) -
*Regular Server Hotspot* Oceangreen Hills (Attuneable Gear) - There are many named enemies spread out throughout this zone and also many different types of relatively weak enemies. If you're soloing/duoing and can't handle very much I would recommend you avoid the undead enemies in the zone. They can hurt & come with friends when pulled.
*Regular Server Hotspot* Oceangreen Village (Attuneable Gear) - Much like Oceangreen Hills before it, this zone is one of the best locations for people who don't have a large group or are soloing/duoing. There's many nameds spread out throughout this zone which will make easy pickings. Also, most of the enemies here are relatively weak.
*Regular Server Hotspot* Bloody Kithicor (Attuneable Gear) - Soloers/Duoers stick to the animal named enemies as they're the easiest ones and mixed in with relatively weak mobs. The obliteration camps/army of light camps are the harder spots of this zone and it's recommended you bring a group with you for them. Also, this zone drops higher level Attuneable Gear than OGH/OGV.
*Regular Server Hotspot* Temple of Bertoxxulous (Attuneable Gear) - Out of all the locations that drop Attuneable Gear in the Seeds of Destruction expansion pack, this will be without a doubt the hardest. I only recommend this zone to people who are boxers and or with a full group. Smaller groups could manage here if you're raid geared. The zone is jam packed with enemies and it's rather tough, but rewarding to the right group.
If you find some of these locations too difficult I highly recommend that you start boxing an extra character or two. There is no better way to increase how much plat you can make an hour than leveling up your own 6 box team and boxing current expansion locations.
With programs like Isboxer or Macroquest2 boxing is accessible to every player in the game and it'll allow you to do anything you want in the game without having to find a group or bug people for help. If you're interested in boxing, read my Boxing Guides to get started and have the entire process broken down for you bit by bit. (Note: Both of these programs are not allowed on True Box servers)
There's also more to farm than just plat in Everquest! The Omens of War expansion adds in permanent resist increases, Dragons of Norrath adds in a lot of passive permanent boosts and when Call of the Forsaken Hits, completing all of an expansions progression tasks will reward you with Hero's AAs. For more information about all of these permanent passive increases and how to obtain them head over to my Permanent Stat Boosts Guide.
Finally, the last thing worth mentioning is that there's also different clickies that you can get for your character that'll be forever useful. Overhaste clickies like Ancestral memories or the Circle of Power clickies. Even a Haste clicky for melee characters that don't box an Enchanter can be pretty nice. Head on over to my Useful Clickies Farming Guide for more information about what clickies you can farm and from where.
