Tatooine Companion Guide Walkthrough - Kotor 1
On this page you'll find my Companion Guide for Tatooine in Kotor 1. This guide is designed to be used as a companion while you're playing the game, hence the name "Companion Guide". If you want to have your phone out while you play and don't feel like scrolling through a guide with no pictures - you can simply use the map locations on this page instead.
My Companion Guide will show you an overview of each location on each planet along with any points of interest on that map you can visit. NPCs involved in Side Quests or events that give Dark Side/Light Side Points are most of what I point to. Some story events will be marked too along with rare or good items if I felt that they were worth mentioning.
This guide goes hand in hand with my Tatooine Walkthrough which is built more like a traditional hand-holding walkthrough. Last but not least, when playing the game I liked having a checklist that reminded me of how and where to update the story on each planet, so I have included that at the top of each page too.
To advance the story on Tatooine...
1. Obtain the Hunting License from the Czerka Office
2. Purchase HK-47 from the Droid Shop
3. Talk to Iziz by the front gate and agree to help him
4. Collect a disguise to enter the Sand People Enclave
5. Either kill the entire Sand People Enclave or agree to help them (more info on both here)
6. Get the Eastern Dune Sea Map from either Iziz or the Sand People Chieftain
7. Help Komad lure the Krayt Dragon out of its lair and defeat it
8. Collect the Star Map from the Krayt Dragon Cave
Docking Bay - Tatooine
Events: Every Docking Bay area in the game is an "event location". What this means is there is a chance that you'll get a dialogue prompt from your Companion like... [So and so looks like they want to speak with you] which will advance their personal story line - or you might get an NPC that approaches you and starts one of the Companion Side Quests.
Below is a list of every Companion Side Quest in the game.
Bastila's Mother (Can't start on Manaan or Korriban)
Canderous' Honor (Can start anywhere but Tatooine)
Juhani's Past (Can start anywhere but Dantooine)
Mission's Brother (Can't start on Tatooine or Manaan)
Carth's Son (Can start anywhere but Korriban)
Anchorhead - Tatooine
There is quite a bit to do in Anchorhead both for the main story as well as for your Side Quests. Your first time here you're going to want to visit the Czerka Hunting Lodge so you can acquire your Hunting License as well as the droid shop where you'll be able to purchase HK-47, a new Companion. Last but not least you'll want to talk with Iziz at the front gate, he has information on the Star Map but wants something from you first.
Sharina: Just outside the Hunting Lodge in Anchorhead you'll find Sharina looking to find a hunter who will sell her Desert Wraid Plate for her. There are many opportunities for Light Side or Dark Side Points during this quest, check out my Sharina Fizark Side Quest page for more information.
Czerka: Here you'll find the Czerka Offices which is where you'll obtain your Hunting License for the main Tatooine Story Quest - after you talk to Griff at the Sand People Enclave you'll find him here too for the second half of the Mission's Brother Side Quest.
Swoop: You can race in Swoop Races here and do the Nico Senvi Side Quest which will require you to win all 3 Swoop Races. There are also 3 NPCs here that you can threaten for Dark Side Points, Yuka Rill, Zoriis Bafka and Garm Totryl. All 3 of them are Swoop Racers and will have dialogue options that allow you to threaten or demand Credits from them. No opportunities for Light Side Points in any of the dialogue will present themselves.
Cantina: Pazaak vendor inside of the Cantina as well as Furko Nellis a Pazaak Shark. Other than that the only big quest that takes place inside here is the Bastila's Mother Side Quest.
HK-47: During the primary story quest on Tatooine you'll have to come here and buy HK-47 from Yuka Laka. You can get HK-47 for the really discounted price of 2500 if you haggle him down.
Iziz: While doing the primary story quest on Tatooine you'll have to decide between helping the Sand People or helping Iziz the Jawa for information about the Star Map and a map to the Eastern Dune Sea.
Dune Sea - Tatooine
When traveling through the Dune Sea for your first time all you need to do is kill some Sand People and loot their clothes. You'll need these disguises to gain entry to the Sand People Enclave. Everything else on this map is optional.
Droids: Here you'll find a man by the name of Tanis Vann surrounded by a pack of droids. Each droid will have a logic puzzle you need to complete to disable it and this quest will have some opportunities for Dark Side Points. Check my Dune Sea Droids Side Quest for more info.
Miners: A group of miners is here and you can approach them and talk to them. When you speak to them it will trigger an event where Sand People come in waves and attack you and the miners. There are no opportunities for Light Side or Dark Side Points here. If you want to kill these miners, put on Sand People clothes and then approach them.
Gamorrean: No opportunities for Dark Side or Light Side Points from these guys, just XP.
Jagi: When you're on Canderous' Honor Side Quest you'll find Jagi here.
Sand People Territory - Tatooine
Your first time in this area you'll have to be careful not to get too close to the turrets outside the Sand People Enclave to the south. If you approach them without and Sand People clothing equipped they'll shoot at you and instantly kill you. Check my Tatooine Walkthrough for more information about how to sneak by these turrets.
Explosives: Throughout this area you'll find a lot of mines which you can Recover and then sell for some Credits later.
Turrets: Your first time here you'll get fired on by the turrets at the Sand People Enclave entrance unless you wear a set of Sand People clothes on every character that can wear clothes. Be warned that unless you bring HK-47 here things will immediately get violent the second you go inside. Sand People Enclave - Tatooine
In order to gain entrance to the Sand People Enclave you'll have to kill some Sand People in the Dune Sea or Sand People Territory and loot their clothes. You must equip these robes on every character in your party that can wear them to bypass the turrets outfront of the Sand People Enclave. Once inside the enclave the Sand People will instantly attack you without HK-47 -- be warned! Check my Tatooine Walkthrough to learn more about the violent and non-violent solutions.
Chief: The Sand People Chieftan is in this room and is the person who will give you the Eastern Dune Sea Map along with directions to the Star Map if you bring him 2 Moisture Vaporators. After finishing the main story on Tatooine you can show him your Krayt Dragon Pearl for The Storyteller Side Quest.
Jawa: In the town of Anchorhead there is a Jawa standing near the front gates by the name of Iziz. He asks you to free his friends in the Sand People Enclave, his friends are being held in this prison and can't be freed unless you kill the entire Sand People Enclave.
Griff: Unless you're on the Mission's Brother Side Quest this cage will be empty. If you have the quest then you'll find Griff in this cage and it's recommended you bring Mission with you as you'll get more dialogue with her.
Eastern Dune Sea - Tatooine
Until you obtain the Map of the Eastern Dune Sea from either Iziz in Anchorhead or the Sand People Chieftan during the Tatooine Story you won't be able to access this area. As far as the story goes in this area all you need to do is talk to Komad near the Krayt Dragon lair then lead some Bantha over to him.
Krayt Dragon: In the northeastern most portion of this area you'll find the Krayt Dragon which is part of the Tatooine Story Quest. You need to help Komad defeat the Krayt Dragon for access to the Star Map in the back of hte cave. Komad will also give you a Krayt Dragon Pearl which is a lightsaber upgrade as well as used in The Storyteller Side Quest.
Bantha: After speaking with Komad you'll need to run a little bit south to find a herd of Bantha. Lead these back to Komad to coax the Krayt Dragon out of his lair.
Calo/Bandon: Depending on how many Star Maps you've collected you may run into Calo Nord or Darth Bandon when exiting the Krayt Dragon cave. If Tatooine is your first planet after finishing Dantooine then you'll run into Calo Nord - if Tatooine is the 4th out of 5 Star Maps then you'll run into Darth Bandon.
