Dragonscale Hills 70 - 75

***Notice*** Everyone reading this guide in 2018 or later should note that this guide was written in 2009 or so when Underfoot was the current expansion pack. As you can imagine a lot has changed in the game since that time and some of what you read in this guide may be inaccurate or misleading. This page *does* still have some useful info which is why my newer leveling guides link here - but you should understand that most of the information here is outdated, I've taken what's correct and incorporated it into my newer leveling guides.

If you're here from one of my older links then head over to my new Everquest Leveling Guides Index page as you'll find guides for each expansion for you to choose from. I strongly urge you to use these newer leveling guides instead.

Dragonscale Hills is probably the best location to spend 70 - 75. You'll find the farm to be your new home. I'd recommend before leveling past 70 you stop for a great deal of AAs. At level 70, at the farm you can generally pull out 7 - 13 AAs an hour. If you're a Free to Play player or even a Silver Member it is very important you know where to put your AAs as you are only allowed so many. For the best AAs to get for your class use my AA Placement Guide. The farm isn't just a grind area, there are tasks for it. You get the tasks from a female gnome named Sigglik northeast of the farm.

Before you complete this Dragonscale Hills Leveling Guide section you should be level 75 with at least 450 AAs. Be sure you stay at farm for as long as you feel you should and collect all of the AAs you can otherwise you're really going to be regretting the next few levels when you get owned by anything even remotly close to you in level. The next expansion we're going to is Seeds of Destruction and the mobs there hit almost as twice as hard as the mobs in Dragonscale Hills do. So be prepared!

Sigglik Location of the Farm in Dragonscale Hills

The tasks that you can get from Sigglik for the Farm are as follows:

Farm Clean Up - Crows

Objective: Kill 13 Crows

Farm Clean Up - Doombugs

Objective: Kill 20 Doombugs

Farm Clean Up - Scarecrows

Objective: Kill 10 Scarecrows

To accept a task from Sigglik hail her and say "willing", without the (" ") of course. You'll have to do this 3 times in order to accept all the tasks. Once you have all 3 tasks, It's time to get a group at the farm! (Something to note, I know you won't always be able to get a group at the farm, in this case read the bottom of this page to see what to do in the meantime.

IMPORTANT: If you are struggling with this location or any other location around your level I have a few things that you could do to hopefully fix that. First and foremost you will want to upgrade your gear if you're still using Defiant Gear. There are a ton of Attunable items that you can find in The Bazaar, I recommend you buy the ones that are upgrades and equip them. If you want some help finding these items I highly recommend you use my Bazaar Gear Buying Guide (65+). The second and probably most important thing you can do is get all of the important AAs for your Class. To figure out what AAs are the most important AAs to get I recommend you read over my Everquest AA Placement Guide.

With better gear and all of the important AAs you will notice a gigantic difference in your character and what they are capable of.

The farm has 3 types of mobs, Crows, Scarecrows and Doombugs. In addition there is a named for each of the 3 types (Scarecrow) Strawshanks, (Crow) Bloodbeak, (Doombug) Dungore.

After you complete one of the 3 tasks, return to Sigglik and refresh it. Some people wait until they are done all 3 then refresh them but you lose some XP in the process if you do it this way. All of the named mobs here drop Attunable gear which is probably the best in slot gear you can get for level 65 (the required level on the gear). Some of it will sell in The Bazaar but some of the gear (pretty much only what Bloodbeak drops) doesn't sell at all. Reason is because not that many classes can use the pieces and because it is so common as a drop.

There is however one drop I would like to bring to your attention. This aug is an amazing aug that a lot of non raiders still use to this day. It drops from Dungore and is called Polished Caracite. It is a No Drop aug with 25 AC. It's absolutely amazing for players this level and is one of the best augs a tank can have for quite awhile. If you play on Fironia Vie the aug is actually dropable and can sell for a ton of plat in The Bazaar so keep that in mind if you play on that server.

If you're unable to find a group at the farm, and it is already camped then check out my Where to Solo in DSH Guide!

After you hit level 75 it's time to switch zones, this time we're heading to Field of Scale. To get to Field of Scale return to PoK and hail the Herald of Druzzil Ro and say time, to be taken to the Plane of Time. Once you're in Plane of Time head around the rock near you until you see the Void portal (Picture below). Left click it to be taken the The Void.

Once you make it into The Void, follow the portal's to Field of Scale. Follow my blue line on the map to Portal 1, then take portal 1 to the Field of Scale.
