White SeeD Ship - FF8 Guide
At the top of every page of my Final Fantasy 8 Walkthrough I will have a list of the most important GF Abilities for you to learn as well as my personal preference for who to junction GFs to for this part of the story. The game's auto order for GFs learning abilities is extremely terrible so it's strongly recommended you interfere and do the abilities in the order I provide here.
Throughout the game you can also refine Cards into Items and then those Items into magic. I've provided a list of the refinements that you can do for the cards that you will most likely have in your possession at this time during the story below as well. This same information will be provided at the top of every page during the full walkthrough, keep checking it as it'll change as the story progresses.
GF Abilities to Learn:
Carbuncle: Vit+20%, Vit+40%, Vit Bonus, Boost, Mag-J, HP-J, Vit-J, ST-Def-J, ST-Atk-J, Counter, Recov Med-RF

Pandemona: Spd-J, Elem-Defx2, Boost, Spd+20%, Spd+40%, Str+20%, Str+40%
King Tonberry: Familiar, Haggle, Sell-High, Call Shop, Initiative, Boost
Cerberus: Spd-J, Spr-J, Mag-J, ST-Def-J, ST-Atk-J, Spd+20%, Spd+40%, Auto-Haste, ST-Def-Jx2, ST-Def-Jx4
Alexander: Med Data, Med LV Up, High Mag-RF, Elem-Defx4, Elem-Atk-J, Boost, Revive, Spr+20%
GF Junctioning:
Squall: Ifrit, Quezacotl, Cerberus, Alexander
Zell: Shiva, Diablos, Pandemona
Quistis: Siren, Brothers, Carbuncle, Leviathan, Tonberry
(Or whomever you choose as your party; junction them as you see above)
The White SeeD Ship is found tucked away in a small inlet of the Centra Continent. If you don't know where you're looking it can be rather difficult to locate - use my screenshots to help locate this ship. On the ship there are a few things for us to do, the first of which is grab the Timber Maniacs Issue (which is permanently missable if not grabbed while on this ship).
You'll also want to give Zone the Girl Next Door magazine for the Shiva Card. He's found upstairs on the ship. You should have gotten Girl Next Door much earlier in the game when we were in Timber, it's found in the Timber Maniacs Building.
Zone stands right next to the Timber Maniacs Magazine so you can't miss one and get the other. Make sure to give Zone the magazine "for free", don't sell it to him for any Gil or you won't get what you want. While on this ship you can also challenge Watts to a game of cards and win the Angelo Card from him. This assumes of course you didn't win it earlier in the game when you first met him.
To progress the story forward you'll want to go inside of the cabin on the deck of the ship. Speak with the SeeD member inside of here and use the Holy Draw Point if desired. When you're ready to advance the story forward speak with the SeeD guy again. You'll find yourself back on Balamb Garden at the bridge after the scene.
Note: If the SeeD member tells you that he has no reason to believe Edea sent you and immediately removes you from the boat then it means you haven't gotten The Sorceress's letter yet from Edea, visit Edea's House and speak to her before returning.
Before we continue with the story, it's recommended that you collect 18 items first. This will allow us to very quickly get the Doomtrain GF once we obtain the item coming up during Esthar. If you need more information on where to obtain these items follow the appropriate links.
6 Steel Pipe (Mugged from Wendigo enemies)
6 Remedy+ (Med LV Up on 60 Remedy Items)
6 Marlboro Tentacles (4 Marlboro Cards per tentacle) - also farmed in Grandidi Forest
Once you've collected all you need you'll want to go to Fisherman's Horizon to advance the story forward. When you arrive there will be a scene of you in the infirmary picking up Rinoa, then you'll have to walk with her on your back into Fisherman's Horizon.
When you regain control of Squall you will want to talk to Edea then you'll be asked to form a party. Edea is a possible member now but she isn't a permanent addition to your team so I recommend not using her. Head out the northern most exit of the screen to find yourself back on the World Map.
Enter the Great Salt Lake area that you see in front of you (also really the only place you can go) for another scene. After forming your party.... again.... head up one screen then once you're on the next go up the large dinosaur spine. You'll be at the same screen shown in my screenshot above, which is where you'll find a hidden Meteor Draw Point off to the right.
Continue north along the linear path until you pass a Thundaga Draw Point and find a spot to jump off the cliff. At the next screen you will want to continue to go right for a Save Point or left to proceed with the area and fight a weak boss.
Important Junction Tip: Make sure Mug is Junctioned if it isn't already, the boss coming up has better Mug loot than dropped loot!
Important Draw Tip: If the boss is level 30+ (meaning your party has an average level of 30) then you can Draw Flare magic from him.
The boss we're facing off against is also another Undead boss which means you can instantly defeat it with the Revive GF ability or Recover. You can also use an Elixir, X-Potion or Phoenix Down to defeat it within a few turns. Once the fight is over continue along the path until the next screen.
On this screen you'll notice that the background image occasionally flickers and a weird black symbol appears (pictured above) - examine it when it happens for a scene. Climb up the wall and through the hole after the scene and follow the linear path to advance the story.
