Everquest Leveling Guide 85 - 86 (+ AAs)

***Notice*** Everyone reading this guide in 2018 or later should note that this guide was written in 2009 or so when Underfoot was the current expansion pack. As you can imagine a lot has changed in the game since that time and some of what you read in this guide may be inaccurate or misleading. This page *does* still have some useful info which is why my newer leveling guides link here - but you should understand that most of the information here is outdated, I've taken what's correct and incorporated it into my newer leveling guides.

If you're here from one of my older links then head over to my new Everquest Leveling Guides Index page as you'll find guides for each expansion for you to choose from. I strongly urge you to use these newer leveling guides instead.

This spot I recommend to players low on AAs. It will be a long trip to 86 here so I have a few other places you can use on the list. This is one of my favorite "sitting back and hanging out" spot though. I can pull the goblins here in single pulls all around the northern section of the camp and if I want to get daring I can pull from the tents or around the campfire.

This spot will last you well into 1250+ AAs which is how many I recommend you get before leaving here. At least get all the important ones CA/CS high ranked your important class AAs ranked high as well as many others. All depending on your class will determine what you should get. I can't go through the list for all classes but by now it should be pretty obvious to you which AA's are good to get and which AAs aren't. There is also a task you can do for killing the goblins, as seen below. But the distance in which you must travel to continually repeat it is rather far.

There is another camp that is good but it will require some AAs to handle and is right by the task giver, Tyrinam. This camp is known as Worgs. This is the most commonly camped camp in Loping Plains to the point of where your usually shocked if someone isn't here. I recommend grabbing this camp if its available and grinding the worgs + turning in the task once completed.

If you are struggling with this location or any other location around your level I have a few things that you could do to hopefully fix that. First and foremost you will want to upgrade your gear if you're still using Defiant Gear. There are a ton of Attunable items that you can find in The Bazaar, I recommend you buy the ones that are upgrades and equip them. If you want some help finding these items I highly recommend you use my Bazaar Gear Buying Guide (65+). The second and probably most important thing you can do is get all of the important AAs for your Class. To figure out what AAs are the most important AAs to get I recommend you read over my Everquest AA Placement Guide.

With better gear and all of the important AAs you will notice a gigantic difference in your character and what they are capable of.

After you get a solid amount of AAs and level 86 I recommend you head to The Void zones. Tosk is a good choice if you can handle it and so is Blackburrow which is just off of Oceangreen Hills. Field of Scale is also good (killing the "weak" mobs) if you're still unprepared for the harder mobs. For a list of literally hundreds of different locations you can get XP check out my link below.
