Bastion of Thunder Leveling Guide

***Notice*** Everyone reading this guide in 2018 or later should note that this guide was written in 2009 or so when Underfoot was the current expansion pack. As you can imagine a lot has changed in the game since that time and some of what you read in this guide may be inaccurate or misleading. This page *does* still have some useful info which is why my newer leveling guides link here - but you should understand that most of the information here is outdated, I've taken what's correct and incorporated it into my newer leveling guides.

If you're here from one of my older links then head over to my new Everquest Leveling Guides Index page as you'll find guides for each expansion for you to choose from. I strongly urge you to use these newer leveling guides instead.

If you arrived on this page without reading the page previous to it on how to get to Bastion of Thunder you may want to go back and read the Traveling to BoT instructions. Bastion of Thunder, more commonly known as BoT has 4 different wings, each of them a different element, earth, water, air and fire. You can choose whatever wing you want but I normally always choose earth. If earth is camped then I move over to water and if by some freak chance water is camped too I have found the bees down at the bottom of BoT to be your best bet.

Whichever wing you choose you'll just want to kill the mobs near the entrance and be careful not to venture too far in as you'll get repops. Also as you probably could have guessed the mobs start to become much harder the deeper you go in. BoT is great XP and quite easy for players to handle. You'll want to hang out in this zone until around level 65 at which point you'll be moving on to Wall of Slaughter.

If you are struggling with this location or any other location around your level I have a few things that you could do to hopefully fix that. First and foremost you will want to upgrade your gear if you're still using Defiant Gear. There are a ton of Attunable items that you can find in The Bazaar, I recommend you buy the ones that are upgrades and equip them. If you want some help finding these items I highly recommend you use my Bazaar Gear Buying Guide (65+). The second and probably most important thing you can do is get all of the important AAs for your Class. To figure out what AAs are the most important AAs to get I recommend you read over my Everquest AA Placement Guide.

With better gear and all of the important AAs you will notice a gigantic difference in your character and what they are capable of.

It may be wise to avoid the nameds until level 64 or 65. Once you reach 65 I recommend you hang out here and make sure you have every important AA. To see what AAs are important for your class use my AA Placement Guide from the paragraph above.

Once you reach level 65 It's time to leave Bastion of Thunder and head to the next zone, Plane of Fire. Getting to PoFire from BoT is quite easy as all you have to do is zone out into Plane of Tranquility and head southeast to the large red globe which will take you to PoFire. Plane of Fire is on the southern portion of the map over hanging the ocean. Inside the Gazebo where it shows Plane of Fire you're going to find a bunch of drakes and a large red ball. Click the large red ball to get inside.
