Island Closest to Hell - FF8 Guide
One of two end game locations in Final Fantasy 8 is the Island Closest to Hell. You'll find this island on the western most portion of the map, it looks kind of like a crab claw. Use my screenshots above and below these paragraphs to guide you if you need it.
When you land on the island going into your menu will tell you whether or not you're at the right place. As seen in the screenshot below it says "Island Closest to Hell" - if you're really not sure you're in the right place, you can always check there.
The thing that makes this island as well as the Island Closest to Heaven unique is that all of the enemies here are not only some of the more difficult enemies in the game, but they're all level 100. Usually in Final Fantasy 8 the enemies level up with you, so having a lower level party will make the enemies lower level.... But on these islands it's different.
Credit to whomever made this, I found it on Google.
In addition to the enemies on this island there are also hidden Draw Points which you can find throughout the island, use the screenshot above if you'd like some guidance on finding these locations... Last but not least the final piece of advice I can give you is what Junctions to use while hunting here.
Island Closest to Hell Junctioning Tips:
ST-Def: Make sure you are immune to Sleep, Confuse and Petrify. It's also recommended you make yourself immune to Berserk too. Malboro enemies will be the most difficult enemies on this island making protecting against status ailments a top priority.
ST-Atk: Ice. At least half the enemies are weak to Ice and none of them absorb or nullify it making it the best choice
Mug: It's recommended you do not use this unless you know what item you're going for

Grendel
This enemy is probably the easiest one to defeat on the entire island - the only two abilities he has that can do some damage to you is his lightning breath and tail attack. He's most vulnerable to Berserk, Confuse and Darkness, out of the three Darkness (Blind) is a good choice since most of his damage is melee.

Blue Dragon
Blue Dragon enemies can be just as annoying as Malboro enemies if you're not properly Junctioned. They have a breath attack that deals a decent amount of damage as well as has a chance of inflicting Petrify, Poison, KO or Darkness onto whomever it hits.
They absorb Poison so if you're using the game's Auto Junctioning you'll have to manually change this. Their weakness is Ice Magic and they also aren't very resilient against many status ailments, hit them with Berserk or Darkness to make the fight much easier.

Hexadragon
Hexadragons are probably the easiest dragon to fight on this island. They use fire magic which isn't insanely powerful but it can hurt if you have a low Spr stat or no protection to fire. For the most part though it's their melee attacks that you will have to worry about.
Much like many of the other enemies on Island Closest to Hell, Hexadragons absorb Poison and Fire so if you use FF8's Auto Junctioning you'll need to manually chance this. Hexadragons are weak against Water, making it the best Junction to use against them on your weapons.

Ruby Dragon
Ruby Dragons are one of the most powerful enemies in all of Final Fantasy 8. Their breath attack can hit for 4000+ (physical, non-elemental damage) if you're not Junctioned properly or you're lower level. Their Meteor attack can be a real pain too if you don't have high HP.
As you could probably already guess Ruby Dragons absorb Fire damage as well as Wind too. They're weak to both Ice and Holy attacks and as far as status ailments go... They're most vulnerable to Slow (50%) but they're also vulnerable to Sleep (20%).

Malboro
Tip: Draw Demi from the Malboro and hit him with the spell, he has a TON of HP and this'll lower it by a % for you.
Without a doubt the most annoying enemy on both Island Closest to Hell and Island Closest to Heaven is the Malboro. The battle will basically begin with the Malboro using Bad Breath on your party which has a chance of afflicting you with every status ailment in the book.
As you could probably already have guessed, Malboro enemies will absorb Poison, so if you are using this game's Auto Junctioning you'll need to manually change it. They don't absorb, but they nullify earth. They're weak against Ice and they have no status vulnerabilities.
