Dragon Quest 9: Magic Key Chests & Door Locations

This page contains all of the locations of Magic Doors in Dragon Quest 9 which we found BEFORE we had the Magic Key. There are some locations that are not mentioned on this page which you will find after acquiring the Magic Key. Players can find the Magic Key about midway through the game in the town of Gleeba.

Finding this key and using it is actually required for game progression so I won't go into much detail on how to find it, if you'd like more information on that though use my Dragon Quest 9 Walkthrough Chapter 4.

 

Thief's Key Locked Chest Locations

Ultimate Key Chests/Door Locations

 

Zere - Back of Inn

Located in the back of the Zere Inn you'll find a door that can be opened with a Magic Key. Inside is a room with a few barrels for you to bust and a chest that contains a Mini Medal.

Coffinwell - Top of Inn

Go into the Inn of Coffinwell then up the staircase to find yourself on the roof. Go into the nearby door and the Magic Door will be right in front of you. Don't forget to check the bookcase in this room as well - there are almost a dozen different Alchemy Recipes that you will get from this bookshelf.

Bloomingdale - Inside Mansion

If you've forgotten where the mansion is in Bloomingdale, it's the northern most building. You'll find the Magic Key door on the second floor of the mansion in the northwestern most hallway. Along with the chest there will be some barrels and pots for you to beak inside.
