Soldier's Graveyard Optional Dungeon - Grandia Walkthrough
Soldier's Graveyard is the first optional dungeon that you will typically come across in the Zil Desert. It's found in the large open area portion of the map. When you enter Zil Desert from the World Map you'll want to run southeast until Rapp points out the cellar location to you (pictured below).
Note: The Soldier's Graveyard along with every other Optional Dungeon becomes permanently unavailable after major story events at J Base. After you return from Alent there is a short window to do these before you can't anymore.
The second optional dungeon is the Castle of Dreams, this is found in South Zil Desert. If you'd like to learn more about that dungeon follow the link. Both of these dungeons are completely optional, there's no story elements in them and they are there purely for the loot and enjoyment of the combat system.
Below are the items that make this dungeon worth visiting. Everything on this list is found in the final part of the dungeon after defeating the final boss (except the key to open the door to the boss). Almost all of the loot is hidden behind invisible walls, it's easy to find though... Just hug the wall and you will reveal the locations.
Items of Interest
Medal of Yore: It will restore SP when you attack.
Godspeed Knife: Second best knife in the game.
All-Around Seed: Increases all stats by 1 permanently.
All-Around Fruit: Increases all stats by 3 permanently.
Energy Charm: Halves SP usage.
(Key Item) Soldier's Key: Found on B4 floor, needed to open the door to the boss.
Soldier's Graveyard Walkthrough
This dungeon is a bit of a maze, the entrance to the B2F is found in the pit near the spring boards. You can get down into the pit two different ways, but the easiest is to just fall down by the spring boards (otherwise it's not very obvious that you're going down a decline).
On B2F you're looking for the large circular room with the two birds on either side. In the middle is where you'll find the Fire Cape item. Search the northern wall of this room and press X to reveal a hidden passage (pictured below). This is how you'll reach the B3F.
Tip: You can return to the entrance and save/recover as many times as you want while clearing this dungeon. There's no reason to do it all in one full stretch without healing up.
Search the northern end of the circular room on B2F to reveal a hidden area
B3 and B4 are kind of interconnected, there are multiple cracks in the floor of B3 which drop you into B4 and two sets of stairs back up to B3. It ends up being more of a maze than the other floors for this reason. You're looking for the Soldier Key on B4, this will allow us to open the door on the northern side of B4. If you're having trouble finding the door it looks just like the stone walls but it's blue.
Once you're through the locked door on B4 you'll find the boss of this dungeon, Kung Fu Master. In the room before his there will be invisible walls on both ends - these lead to Soldier Souls which are items we need to get a chest after this boss. The first room behind each wall will be empty, look for a second invisible wall that leads to a room with a chest. Before fighting the boss of this dungeon I recommend you return to the first floor and use the recovery terminal.
Kung Fu Master has a lot of HP and will probably be the hardest boss you've challenged up until now. My advice for beating him is to interrupt his attacks as much as possible. After the Kung Fu Master is defeated you'll want to avoid falling into the pit that is behind him and collect the Yore Medal at the far end of the hallway. In the same room as this medal you can find a few hidden walls, search the rooms to find an All Fruit, 2 Soldier Souls and God Knife.
When you find all of the Soldier Souls you'll get a short cinematic of the chest in the pit being lowered, now is when you'll want to return to it and loot it for an Energy Charm. Head down into B5F and grab the All Seed that's here, search for fake walls in the circular room and you'll be able to reach that sword you see on the ground through the window. The sword is an Ice Blade, you'll also find a Diana's Amulet in a different hidden room.
After you've obtained all of the items, you're free to leave this dungeon and continue with the game.
Tip: You may want to visit the Cafu Village Inn or anywhere that has a Stash ASAP. Get rid of the 4 Soldier's Souls and the Soldier's Key.
