EX Game Walkthrough - Parasite Eve
EX Game in Parasite Eve is basically New Game + by modern standards, it just wasn't called that back in the day. You will replay the entire game a second time but this time you get to keep the weapon/armor you engraved at Wayne during Day 6. Also, a new dungeon appears called the Chrysler Dungeon, this is 80 floors with each level being randomly generated. There is a boss every 10 floors with Eve being the final boss of the dungeon. Beating the Chrysler Building will give you the true ending for Parasite Eve.
Before you attempt the Chrysler Building you'll want to make sure Aya's inventory is fully expanded so you have all available slots. You should also have a powerful Weapon/Armor which has been upgraded with Tools/Super Tools throughout the past two playthroughs. Wayne will keep all items you give him between playthroughs, this allows you to bring all Tools that you didn't use and any weapons/armor that you've yet to strip of bonuses.
Wayne will also remember how much Junk you give him between playthroughs, this will make crafting an "Ultimate Weapon" at him easier the second time around. The best guns to choose at Wayne are the Pistol and the Rifle, depending on what you prefer. I always choose the Rifle.
One thing to keep in mind is that you can do as many EX Game playthroughs as you want to level up your character. I strongly recommend you do at least 3 and dump all Bonus Points into Inventory Space and weapon/armor upgrades. From my experience it's faster to do more playthroughs of the game than it is to try and grind EXP for hours. Replaying the game is definitely more fun than mindlessly grinding.
Chrysler Building Walkthrough
As I mentioned before, this dungeon is designed to be a very repetitive experience. Every floor looks the same in terms of background and it's basically just a confusing maze. The whole experience is very monotonous and tedious, as are most 'bonus' dungeons in games like this. Since my dungeon layout won't be the same as your dungeon layout, I can't provide a hand holding guide.
What I can do though, is give you tips to navigate this place and also point out some important pieces of information. The first thing I will mention is that floors 1 - 10 are the best floors for farming Junk. So if you plan to grind here for Junk that way you can get the Ultimate Weapon, you shouldn't beat the first boss for awhile. Each time you beat a boss, the 10 floors below it will stop spawning enemies.
Every floor in this dungeon will have a loot room, all loot rooms are found in a screen that runs east to west (or west to east, either way). What I mean is, you'll always find the loot room on the same looking screen, same with the elevator door. You can only trigger these screens by going right or left (east or west) at an intersection.
The same is true for stairs, you will never find stairs by going right or left. You'll always find the staircase by going either up or down, the stairs going down will always be on a specific screen and same with the stairs going up. Use this information to your advantage, when you're looking for the next floor just know that the stairs will always be found by going up at some intersection/junction.
Our next big tip is to keep an eye out for the Rare Trading Cards that you can find inside the loot rooms. These trading cards have two main purposes, the first is they will allow you to get two upgrades at Wayne per trading card just like normal cards. Their second purpose is the more important one, when you collect enough Rare Trading Cards Wayne will give you a Tool Box which is a Tool with unlimited uses. Once you get this item you can go through your surplus of items and steal all their points. When you collect all 14 cards Wayne will give you the Super Tool Box which is exactly what it sounds like--an unlimited use Super Tool.
Chrysler Building Tips & Tricks
- You only need to bring the most recent key with you, the rest can be stored at Wayne. So, if you have Key #4, you don't need to carry keys 1 - 3 with you.
- If you're playing on an Emulator, you'll want to use turbo speed for this dungeon.
- Junk drops on floors 1-10 and also on floors 60-70. Starting on floor 60 the mobs give good experience points and it becomes easier to level up in here.
- Instead of grinding enemies for hours to level up Aya, I recommend starting another EX game and dumping all the bonus points into your armor/weapon. EX Game will give you a lot of Bonus Points when you go through the story again, this is worth repeating instead of grinding mobs in my opinion.
Chrysler Building Bosses
Floor 10 (Spider): The first boss of the Chrysler Building is the giant spider that you fought on the hospital roof during Day 4. This boss battle should be extremely easy.
Floor 20 (Two Crocodiles): Our second boss is two mutant crocodiles, you may remember this guy from the sewers during Day 1.
Floor 30 (The Centipede): Now is when bosses start to get a bit more annoying, our third boss is the Centipede we fought on Day 5 at the train station. The only hard part of this fight is when he splits into four, the tail is the most annoying part since it will blind you each time it hits you. Eliminate the tail first during phase 2.
Floor 40 (Triceratops): You may remember this boss from the Museum, it's the same one that tackles you into the T-rex room. The fight works more or less the same way as the museum one.
Floor 50 (Roach): Unlike all of the previous bosses, this one is a new fight. The biggest issue with this boss is it has a skill which lays an egg and then hatches into another Roach. If not swiftly dealt with this roach will grow up and be another boss for you to fight. My advice is to use Liberate as often as possible, especially when there is only one target alive.
Floor 60 (Crab): This is the same fight as the Warehouse Crab Boss during Day 5. You'll want to stay on the sides of this enemy as much as possible. I recommend using the Haste and/or Liberate PE powers to make quick work of this guy. Haste will help you with mobility and avoiding attacks and Liberate is the "plz end this" skill.
Floor 70 (Bug): The final boss before Eve is a giant bug creature. In my experience this fight is going to be very hard or very easy for you, depending on how much leveling up you did for your armor/weapons. As with many bosses, you'll want to try and stand at the sides of this creature to avoid most of the damage.
Final Boss - Floor 80 (Eve)
After defeating the bug boss on floor 70 you will have no more enemies in the building, it's a straight run to Eve on the final floor. These last 10 rooms look a bit weird, but they're very easy to navigate. Just remember that the stairs are ontop of each other. Once you reach Eve's room there will be some dialogue before the fight begins.
This battle is one of the most unenjoyable fights I have ever had to do. It's mostly a race against time and a DPS check on your equipment, unless you can somehow figure out how the boss is designed. What I mean is, during the fight Eve will occasionally summon Maya to inflict a status ailment on you. If you attack Eve anywhere around the time she deploys this ability a second Maya will come down and heal Eve every time.
When Maya heals Eve the first time it's only for 1k but every subsequent time it will add another 1k to the heal. So after just two mistakes, Eve will be getting healed for 3000 damage. All of the guides online say to avoid attacking Eve when Maya is on the screen but that wasn't enough for me. When I watched Youtube videos of this fight all the good guides that I saw, the person always ignored the mechanics and burst Eve down. They simply grinded enough to out damage Maya's heals (which is what I did).
Tip: When Eve does her power charge skill, you'll want to stand in the middle of the screen and take the full hit. This attack can't be dodged and if you stand on the edge of the screen you'll be hit after she performs the attack which will kill you.
Once you've beaten Eve there will be some dialogue after which the credits will roll and you will get a black screen. That's it. If you're expecting a cutscene you'll be disappointed.
