How to Defeat X-ATM092 in Dollet - FF8 Guide

At the end of Dollet after defeating the Elvoret boss Biggs will unleash a big machine to attack Squall and the gang named X-ATM092. It's not typical for people to defeat this boss at this point in the game, the game is actually setup for you to repeatedly run from it instead... However with some preparation you can take this guy down.

During the first encounter with X-ATM092 it's immortal but after that first encounter you're able to defeat it during battle. In order to beat X-ATM092 permanently you'll need to knock it down three times during the same battle, after the second time it no longer regenerates its HP and it can be defeated.

X-ATM092 has about 5000 HP in total so you'll definitely want to make sure you have Tornado Junctioned to Squall's Str stat otherwise you probably won't be able to defeat him - or it'll take super long to do so. If you do decide to beat it you'll be rewarded with one of the following items.

Loot that X-ATM092 Drops:

Power Wrist
Orihalcon
Hypno Crown
Force Armlet

The boss only drops one of these items and each has an equal 25% chance of dropping. In my opinion the best item of the four is probably the Force Armlet since it's used in Rinoa's Ultimate Weapon The Shooting Star. Finding Force Armlets prior to Disc 3 can be challenging and this is your first opportunity to get one!

Defeating X-ATM092 will also get you a few different bits of dialogue when you return to Dollet later in the game. For one the machine doesn't rampage through town and destroy the car anymore!
