Mini Medal Locations & Guide - Dragon Quest 6
Throughout Dragon Quest VI you will pick up many Mini Medals from the different towns and dungeons that you visit. Usually each town and dungeon has at least one Mini Medal for you to find but often a couple more. You'll also commonly find Mini Medals as your reward for exploring off the beaten path in most areas.
Anyone who is familiar with the Dragon Quest series probably already knows about the Mini Medal Side and how it works. This side quest is one of the few that is repeated in almost every entry in the series, often providing even the same rewards in some of the games!
In Dragon Quest VI specifically you'll be able to start turning in your Mini Medals for rewards once you save King Medford Medallion from the Isle o' Smiles by defeating Jamirus. You'll visit this location rather early on in the game in the Dream World, for more information check out Chapter 4 of my Walkthrough.
You can find Medford's Manor in the northwestern portion of the Dream World (pictured above).
All you have to do to start claiming rewards for your Mini Medals is to venture up to Medford's Manor and give them to the King. Your rewards for this quest are cumulative instead of you purchasing them like the earlier Dragon Quest games. What this means is, when you turn in 15 Mini Medals you'll receive the Staff of Divine Wrath. Turning in a total of 50 Mini Medals will get you the Sands of Time.
Each time you turn in enough Mini Medals you'll get the next reward in line. Below is a list of all the different rewards you can get for turning in Mini Medals as well as how many Mini Medals each reward requires.

#01 Wellshire (Dream World): Drawer inside of the well.
#02 Gardsbane Tower (Dream World): Towards the top of the tower when it splits into 3 rooms, the drawer in the room on the right has this.
#03 Somnia (Dream World): Inside of a pot in the kitchen.
#04 Port Haven (Real World): Found in a pot behind the Inn.
#05 Somnia (Real World): Northeastern most house found in a pot.
#06 Amor (Real World): House in the southwest, found in a pot.
#07 Amor (Dream World): In the church's basement smash some pots to find this.
#08 Cave of Amor (Dream World): B3, found in a chest in the northeastern section.
#09 Alltrades Abbey (Dream World): B1 in the room with torches. It's a shiny spot on the ground at the northern end.
#10 Scrimsley (Real World): In the center of town this is a shiny spot on the ground.
#11 Scrimsley (Real World): South of Amos' house you'll find this Mini Medal in a drawer.
#12 Arkbolt Castle (Real World): 2F Kitchen, found in a barrel.
#13 Arkbolt Castle (Real World): Training Room, Smash some pots to find it.
#14 Arkbolt Castle Region (Real World): Found inside of a drawer in a house northeast of Arkbolt. There is a cluster of 3 houses on the World Map in this area, hard to miss.
#15 Cave to Aridea (Dream World): Inside of a chest to the south of the Inn.
#16 Aridea (Dream World): Northwestern most home, found in a pot.
#17 Moving Island (Dream World): Behind the Bar in a barrel.
#18 Overworld Area (Dream World): On the small island in the inner sea of the Dream World you'll find a house with an old man inside and a pot with this Mini Medal. Different directions: Southwest of the Isle o' Smiles/Jamirus' castle in the Dream World is where you can find this island.
#19 Overworld Area (Dream World): In the house south/southeast of Alltrades Abbey smash barrels to find this Mini Medal
#20 Overworld Area (Dream World): Almost directly south of Alltrades Abbey (across the river) you'll find a Well; the Mini Medal is inside a chest in that Well.
#21 Gate Northeast of Howcastle/Howsworth (Real World): You pass through this area during the game's story. To reach this location go directly north from Howsworth, it's the large gate on the World Map, impossible to miss.
#22 Howsworth (Real World): Northwestern house in town, found in a pot.
#23 Howsworth (Real World): Outside the Inn inside of the fenced area, smash the barrels.
#24 Howcastle (Real World): Found inside of a pot in the Kitchen.
#25 Hallowed Hollow (Real World): B3, a chest in the northwestern portion of this area.
#26 Hallowed Hollow (Real World): B4, a chest in the southern portion of this area.
#27 Howcastle (Real World): You must have the Magic Key to open the door to get here. Obtained in the courtyard the you find Goowain the optional party member in.
#28 Arkbolt Castle (Real World): Magic Key required. Smash pots in the northeastern wing.
#29 Clearvale (Dream World): House in the southeast, check the drawer.
#30 Clearvale (Real World): House in the southwest, check the drawer.
#31 Destiny's Drop (Real World): Inside of a chest, the first door on the western wall.
#32 Clearvale (Real World): Found in the child's bedroom where you got the Flying Mattress.
#33 Cave West of Clearvale (Dream World): Sparkling item on the ground near the grave.
#34 Dullerton (Real World): Pot outside of Max Wynne's Home
#35 Shrine on an island NW of Sorceria (Dream World): For a map location of this place check my Ultimate Key Locked Door Locations. It's #11 on the list and I show you the map location.
#36 Church Southeast of Sorceria (Dream World): Can be reached with the Flying Bed, if you'd like to see the map location it's #8 in Chapter 6 of my Walkthrough.
#37 Well Northwest of Castle Swanstone (Real World): Inside of the dresser of this well is where you'll find the Mini Medal. You'll pass through this well on the way to Castle Swanstone.
#38 Castle Swanstone (Real World): 3F Drawer in the King's Bedroom.
#39 Castle Swanstone (Real World): 2F Dresser.
#40 Well North of Castle Swanstone (Real World): Drawer inside of this Well.
#41 Spiegelspire (Real World): 2F Chest in the Northwest.
#42 Pescado (Real World): Fish Store; inside of a barrel.
#43 Well South of Alltrades Abbey (Dream World): Shiny spot next to the item shop. For the exact location of this well check out the bottom of Chapter 7 in my Walkthrough, it shows a screenshot of the exact location.

#46 Poseidon's Palace (Underwater): Behind the Ultimate Key Locked Door inside of a treasure chest.

#49 Underwater Inn (Underwater): Just north of the Fashion Smith you'll find an Underwater Inn, this Mini Medal is a shiny spot on the ground in the northeast of this area.
#50 Château de Sass (Real World): Found in the dressing room on the right (east) inside of a drawer.
#51 Somnia (Dream World): Northeast treasure room; behind a locked door which you can only open with the Ultimate Key.
#52 Somnia (Real World): Northeast treasure room; behind a locked door which you can only open with the Ultimate Key. Same exact spot as the one in the Dream World.
#53 Port Haven (Real World): Inside of the prison area which you can reach by going downstairs in town. For the exact location of this and all other Ultimate Key Locked Doors follow the link.
#54 Mobile Island (Dream World): Go downstairs in the bar to find a treasure room, use the Ultimate Key to open the locked doors.
#55 Arkbolt Castle (Real World): Smash the pot behind an Ultimate Key Door inside of the prison.
#56 Howcastle (Real World): 1F Treasure Room next to the Inn. The Ultimate Key is required to open the door.
