Quest #161 Here With Nod's Tear - Bloomingdale

Quest Requirements: Speak to the man outside the Item Shop in Gleeba and then farm a Grotto with 8+ floors that has "of fear" in its name for a Crown Jewel

Quest Pre-Requirements: Side Quest #160 Complete; This is a DLC Quest

Reward: Gold Bar

This quest begins by speaking with the Mayoress of Bloomingdale who is found in one of the eastern homes in Bloomingdale. She asks you to Zoom over to Gleeba and speak with a man about Nod's Tear. The man you want to speak with is standing outside the Item Shop (pictured below) and he asks you to bring him a Crown Jewel from a Grotto with 8 or more floors that has "of fear" in its name.

If you're unfamiliar with Grottos and how they work in Dragon Quest IX I would recommend you head over to my Walkthrough Chapter 9 and read about the post game content in this game. You'll probably need a level 50 - 60+ Treasure Map to fulfill this guys request unless you get lucky. Grottos are all randomly generated to an extreme degree so it's hard to give exact yes or no answers.

Defeat the boss at the bottom of the Grotto to acquire the Crown Jewel item that you need. You'll get a notice of quest credit after defeating the boss - once you have that return to Gleeba and speak to this NPC again for the "Dragon's Tear". Return to the lady in Bloomingdale and give it to her to complete the quest.

Completion of this quest unlocks Side Quest #162, the final quest in this chain and also the final story quest and final dungeon involved in the new DLC content.
