Quest #042 Letter Getter - Stornway

This is a post game quest

Quest Requirements: Bring Bryson in Porth Llaffan a Crumpled Letter dropped by a Bling Badger in a high level water grotto

Reward: Glombolero

This quest is given to you by a man lying on the ground a tad bit west of the church in Stornway. Until you beat the game this man won't be in this location and even after beating the game, unless you're level 80+ I would recommend avoiding even picking up this quest.

For this quest what you need to do is defeat Bling Badger enemies in high level Water or Nature grottos. If you're unfamiliar with what a grotto is, it's basically the post game dungeons of Dragon Quest IX. I go into more details about grottos as well as all other post game content in DQ9 in Chapter 9 of my Walkthrough; head over to that page if you'd like to learn more.

In order for you to gain access to a "high level grotto" you will need to clear lower level grottos and get lucky enough when defeating a grotto boss to score a high level grotto map. The higher your main character's level the better your chances of getting a good grotto map. Level 65+ is what you'll need to get a level 65+ grotto map, which is usually considered high level.

Bling Badger enemies are golden..... creatures that carry around a leaf, as shown in the screen shot above. The hard part of this quest is finding a high level water/nature grotto - not actually defeating these enemies. Typically Blind Badgers will start spawning at Level 5 or lower in higher level grottos - in my experience they're fairly common on the lower floors.

Once you've obtained the crumpled letter that this quest mentions you'll want to Zoom over to Porth Llaffan and give that letter to Bryson inside the Mayor's House. This will finally complete the quest.
