Mutamin's Challenge - NWN Side Quest (Chapter 2)
North Road: Mutamin's Challenge is a side quest that begins in the Green Griffon Inn, a tavern located on the North Road - Green Griffon Inn map. Later on during the Main Story of Chapter 2 you'll be required to visit this map to enter the town of Luskan, which is found in the northern part of this map.
For this quest you'll have to talk with people inside of the Green Griffon Inn until they tell you about the contest that is currently taking place here. Once you learn about the contest you'll be able to ask Mutamin at the front desk about it and he'll give you the key to the basement which is where it's all going down.
In the basement you'll have to pay 500 gold to Jaroo to gain access to the event. Once you're teleported in the only way out will be to complete the event or use the Stone of Recall. The primary goal of this event is going to be collect all 4 crystal items (really you only need the Crystal Egg) and make it to the end of Level 3.
Location of Crystal Egg: The Crystal Egg is found on Level 3 of the dungeon. You'll find this item in the northeastern corner of Level 3 inside of a chest. This is the only Crystal item you need to leave this dungeon.
Location of Crystal Skull: You'll find this item on Level 1 of the dungeon, it's found in a chest in one of the southern rooms. Use my map screenshot below if you need help finding it.
Location of Crystal Insect: Found on Level 2 of the dungeon. There is a Minotaur patrolling one of the central hallways that will drop this item when defeated. For the exact location of this Minotaur use my map screenshot below.
Location of Crystal Frog: This item is also found on Level 1 of the dungeon, it's held by a Yuan-Ti enemy in the southeast portion of the area (pictured below). In order to get the Crystal Frog from her you'll need to answer both riddles correctly to attack her and loot it from the body.
Yuan-Ti who asks you riddles
On the first level of this dungeon you'll encounter a Yuan-Ti who will ask you to solve 2 riddles. Solving each riddle correctly will get you EXP so I would recommend you complete them. Although, it is worth mentioning that you can just kill the Yuan-Ti for the Crystal Frog item that she holds as well. For the best of both worlds you can solve both riddles then attack the Yuan-Ti for the most EXP.
Riddle 1 Answer: 15
Riddle 2 Answer: 12 trinkets and 5 girls
The path behind the Yuan-Ti will actually lead you directly to an optional area on Level 3 with an additional riddle/puzzle. You will find a glowing statue that gives you a riddle asking how many great great great grand daughters some lady would have. The correct answer is 19; left click on the Signposts in this room and you'll see that each room has a number that corresponds to it... Choose the correct room with the Signpost that says 19. My map screenshot below will show you the correct room.
You can use the key you found in the chest after solving the puzzle to access the rest of Level 3. Keep in mind that you skipped Level 2 if you went this route so you may want to go back and clear that floor too. Level 2 is home of the Crystal Insect item but other than that there is nothing to find here, continue onto Level 3.
We have 4 things to accomplish on Level 3 of this dungeon. The first of which is to complete the puzzle in the southwest portion of this area (the riddle answer is 19) to get the magical item and key. You can only access this puzzle area from Level 1 of the dungeon, the stairs down behind the Yuan-Ti will put you in this area.
A little bit to the northeast of the puzzle room you'll find Gorkan who you met earlier before entering. Gorkan is actually involved in Daelan's Tale and he'll drop a Great Axe that you have to give to Daelan to complete his Henchman quest. This is just a normal Greataxe and there is nothing different about it in appearance.
Last but not least you'll also need to collect the Crystal Skull in the northeast and use it in the southeast to complete & leave this dungeon. To complete and leave this dungeon you'll have to place the Crystal Skull inside of the chest -- but before you do that I recommend you place all 3 of the other Crystal items in first.
Each time you put the "incorrect" Crystal item into the chest it'll summon enemies which means free EXP. Below you'll find a quick list detailing what each of the Crystal items will summon when placed inside of the chest. After placing the Crystal item in the chest sometimes you'll have to click on the statue behind it to actually summon the enemies.
It's up to you how many of these you want to do, when you're done place the Crystal Egg in the chest to be teleported back to the Green Griffon Inn.

Now that we finished the dungeon all that is left is to speak with Mutamin upstairs and you're all done.
