The Invocation - Act 2 Story Quest

Imhotep in Memphis

The Invocation is the second main quest in Act 2 of Titan Quest and begins by speaking with Imhotep in the City of Memphis. For this quest you'll need to obtain two different items from different regions and return them to Imhotep; it doesn't matter what order you obtain them in.

I recommend leaving through the eastern exit in Memphis rather than the north since this will take you to where we need to go much quicker. The northern exit goes out of the way a bit first then loops back around to Fayum Oasis, one of the two locations we need to visit.

Side Quests In Area:

The High Priest's Request (Giza Plateau - Tomb of Khufu)
The Missing Brother (Giza Plateau - Tomb)
Khufu's Curse (Giza Plateau - Tomb of Khufu)
A Hidden Treasure (Fayum Oasis)
Caravan Woes (Fayum Oasis)

The items we need to collect for the primary quest are the Hand of Balance and the Eye of Chaos. You can find the Hand of Balance in The Great Sphinx, one of the tombs in Giza Plateau. The Eye of Chaos comes from the Temple of Atum in the northeastern Fayum Oasis. More information on both of these locations can be found below, there are many side quests for you to do in both of these areas as well so keep an eye out for them too.

Note: Fayum Passage/Giza Passage connect Giza Plateau and Fayum Oasis together. The entrance in Fayum Oasis is south of town and in Giza Plateau it's in the northeastern most portion of the zone.

Hand of Balance - The Great Sphinx (Giza Plateau)

Pharaohs Honor Guard and the Hand of Balance

The Hand of Balance is found inside of the Lair of the Sphinx in Giza Plateau. You can find this dungeon southwest of the Giza Plateau Portal; it's rather hard to miss considering it's the only Sphinx that you can actually go inside of. Inside of the Sphinx you will pass by a Rebirth Shrine before finding yourself in the room pictured above with 4 inactive Constructs (Pharaoh's Honor Guard) and 4 Canopic Shrines.

When you destroy one of the Canopic Shrines a Pharaoh's Honor Guard will become active. If you don't have the best gear or aren't an overpowered build I would recommend destroying the Canopic Shrines one by one and fighting the Pharaoh's Honor Guards one at a time. All in all they aren't anything unique and are easy enough to dispatch. Once you're defeating everything you can open the door and claim the Hand of Balance from the smaller Sphinx inside the room.

The Eye of Chaos - Temple of Atum (Fayum Oasis)

Nehebkau Scorpos King at Temple of Atum

You'll find the Eye of Chaos guarded by Nehebkau - Scorpos King at the Temple of Atum in the northeastern portion of Fayum Oasis. To get here simply follow the wall that's to the east of Fayum Oasis north until you come across the path that leads to this temple. Waiting for you at the top will be Nehebkau, a giant scorpion that deals heavy Poison damage.

Nehebkau has two main attacks that are worth mentioning. The first is he'll occasionally summon little scorpions to attack you, you should focus your attention on these when they spawn and take them out quickly. His second attack is a Poison AoE which works similarly to the Rogue Gas Bomb. Don't stand in this poison and you should be fine.

Once you've defeated Nehebkau click on the Eye of Chaos pedestal to retrieve your item.

Note: There was an old bug when Anniversary Edition was first released, if you were playing on any Game Speed over Normal then the Eye of Chaos would not appear on the ground. It has since been fixed but it's worth mentioning incase you have an older copy for some reason.

With both items in hand return to Imhotep in Memphis and turn them in. There will be a quick scene where he fails to perform the Invocation Ceremony after which you'll want to speak with him again to complete this quest and begin the next one, A Telkine in Egypt.
