The City of Atlas - Atlantis Main Quest

Note: This guide is worked on periodically throughout the year. I typically play Titan Quest a few months every year and I update and add more to the guides on my website each time I do. The only information missing from this page is boss strategies as there is almost 0 information online about them and I got bored of Titan Quest before finishing this guide the last time I played. I wrote this message on 5/27/2022 and I assume that probably within the next year I will return here and finish the guide.

Start Location: Gadir
Quest Location: The whole expansion
Objective: Do stuff

The City of Atlas is marked as a Side Quest in the Atlantis Expansion Pack but is actually the main story quest of the entire expansion. You can start this quest by speaking with Marinos on the docks of Gadir, the main town of the Atlantis Xpac. For awhile each time you finish a step of this quest you'll need to return to Marinos and speak with him to open up the next location.

First thing Marinos tasks us with is traveling to the Gadir Necropolis and defeating King Arganthonios for the Journal of Herakles. Gadir Necropolis is found by traveling to the northeast out of Gadir and across the Gadir Outskirts area. Before reaching the Gadir Necropolis you'll pass a cave in the Gadir Outskirts area which will have an NPC you need to talk to for The Lost Wanderer Side Quest.

Gadir Necropolis is a rather big area and you'll find a bunch of tombs here. One of which will lead you to a Bone Pile that has a Suggestive Sculpture in it, this item is used in The Mysterious Artifacts Side Quest. When you're ready to continue on to the boss you'll want to enter the Tomb along the northwestern wall - marked on my map below. This will put you on a linear path straight to the boss.

King Arganthonios is the name of the boss we'll be fighting and you can begin the fight when you're ready by opening King Arganthonios' Sarcophagus. This fight has 2 different phases, during the first you'll be fighting an Undead version of King Arganthonios and during the second phase you'll be fighting a Ghost version of him.

Recommended Resistances: Cold & Vitality

Summon Mummies:

Energynade:

Mind Control Blast:

Earthen Barrier:

After you defeat King Arganthonios and retrieve the Journal of Herakles you will want to return to Gadir and speak with Marinos to complete the first part of this quest. Marinos will unlock a boat in the east which will take you to a new area by the name of Gaulos. If you're having trouble finding the boat dock to Gaulos use my screen shot above for exact directions.

Once you're in Gaulos all you need to do is follow the linear path through the area. When passing by the coast you'll find an NPC by the name of Jibran who starts the Nightly Guests Side Quest. Further north of Jibran you'll find another cave that has a Bone Pile in it that contains the Impossible Puzzlebox, an item for The Mysterious Artifacts Side Quest. These 2 side quests are the only ones in this area.

You'll find the boss enemy we're looking for inside of the Catacombs at the northern end of the linear path that runs through this whole area. This time the boss we're fighting is a giant crab by the name of The Ancient One; defeat the boss and pick up the Ancient Navigational Device that he drops to complete this part of the quest.

<The Ancient One Strategy>

Return to Marinos in Gadir and hand in this item to unlock the next boat for us to travel on. The next destination for us is Africa. You can find the boat to Africa on the dock just south of Marinos - use my map screen shot at the top of the page if you need help finding it. There are a couple of side quests for us to complete in Africa, I will provide you with a list of them below..

Africa Side Quests:

The Letter
The Secret Depot
The Mysterious Artifacts (Clockwork Contraption)
Of Goats and Bards

For the most part this entire area is pretty straight forward and easy to figure out. In my opinion the most confusing part is the cave system that surrounds the oasis area. This is the same area the Of Goats and Bards Side Quest takes place and also the area shown in my screen shot below. I marked every exit on the map with information about what you can find by going that route.

On my screen shot above the cave exit marked "Main Quest Route" is the one you will want to take when you're ready to proceed with the main story quest. Follow the linear path until you pass by the Atlas Mountains Waypoint and you eventually come to a portal that takes you to Garden of the Hesperides.

Inside the Garden of Hesperides you'll need to defeat Ladon and pick up the Golden Apple that he drops.

<Ladon Boss Strategy>

Return the Golden Apple to Marinos in Gadir and you'll unlock the boat to Atlantis; to travel to Atlantis simply speak with the boat captain to the south of Marinos. When you arrive explore the camp and speak with the 2 NPCs here to update your quest and begin a Side Quest. When you're ready to proceed head west out of town into the wilderness.

The path we have to follow is pretty linear and filled with monsters. In the Atlantis Wilderness you'll have 2 Side Quests to complete, The Foraging Mission and Friends Like These. Both of these quests will be completed in the portion of the Atlantis Wilderness that comes right before the Outer Atlantis Portal. Just before the Outer Atlantis Portal you'll also come across another quest NPC by the name of Acrocatus (pictured below). Speak with him to update our City of Atlas quest too.

Acrocatus tells you about 3 Serpentoid bosses that you need to defeat before you can gain access to the final area of this expansion. Isagonus, Caanthus & Vvisssllisss are their names and 2 of them are found in Atlantis Lower District, the area we will be passing through next. Vvisssllisss, the final boss, is found in Atlantis High District.

The first half of Atlantis Lower District will have a couple of Side Quests that you can complete but there won't be any bosses for this quest <<<Where is Isagonus??? Is this true??>>>>. Once you pass through the Ruined Wall cave and you come out to the other side of Atlantis Lower District -- that's where you will find the Serpentoid bosses.

Atlantis Side Quests:

The Mysterious Artifacts
The Exterminator
Ancient Craft
A Score to Settle

Once all 3 bosses are dead the green bubble that is blocking the route to Poseidon's Temple will be opened and you can continue to the final bosses. The 2 bosses left for us to defeat are Tiamat and Lyktos. You'll encounter a bunch of regular enemies along the way too but the route is linear and will lead you straight to both of these bosses.
