Elder Scrolls Skyrim Zelda Amiibo for Nintendo Switch

One feature of the Nintendo Switch is being able to use Amiibos to unlock various different ingame rewards. The Switch port of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has an amiibo which will let you summon a chest once every 24 hours that contain a variety of different rewards. Additionally if you have a Zelda themed amiibo you'll have a chance at three rare zelda items! Which is the purpose of this guide.

In order to summon these chests you'll need to scan your amiibo and bring up the menu to access the Magic submenu. Once in the submenu go down to where it says "powers" which is where you'll find the amiibo power shown in the picture below. Equip this power as you would any other ingame ability and you can use it to summon up a chest.

When you go to summon the chests you'll need to make sure you're on the overworld. You won't be able to summon the chests inside a city or a dungeon. I'm not going to go into massive detail about how to summon these things, if you're confused about any part - just watch the video below!

These chests generally have 3 - 5 items in them some gold, gems, sometimes even tradeskill items! The most common drops are gear which is scaled to your character's ingame level. Any Amiibo you have that isn't a Zelda one will only give you chests with these type of items in them. The Mario amiibos, animal crossing - all of the others don't have any special items like the Zelda ones do.

Anyone that has a Zelda themed amiibo willl have a chance at finding the Master Sword, Hylian Shield or Champion Tunic in each chest. According to Bethesda and sources I have read online the chests have a 20% chance at dropping a zelda themed item per Zelda amiibo that you scan.

After spending some time farming these chests to get pictures for my website I don't know if I agree with a 20% drop rate though. I would argue the drop rate is closer to 5% per chest. We were able to summon 6 chests a night with Zelda amiibos and it took us 5 nights to see our first zelda item.

We got pretty lucky in our last video though, which you can see the results of above!
