Uncharted Waters, also known as "Daikoukai Jidai" in Japan, is a strategic role-playing video game originally released for multiple platforms, including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), in 1990. The game was developed by KOEI, a Japanese video game company known for its historical simulation games, and published by KOEI in Japan and America, and by Koei Tecmo in Europe.

Uncharted Waters is set in the Age of Exploration during the 16th and 17th centuries and offers a unique blend of role-playing, simulation, and strategy gameplay. Players take on the role of a captain of a ship and embark on a quest for adventure, trade, and exploration across the open seas. The game features a vast world map with multiple ports and cities to visit, as well as historical locations and events based on real-world history.

Players can choose from six different characters, each with their own unique storylines and goals, and can customize their ships, recruit crew members, and engage in various activities, such as trading, naval combat, treasure hunting, and diplomacy. The game also includes a rich character development system, where players can improve their skills, acquire new abilities, and build relationships with other characters.
