The Chaos Engine is a top-down, action-packed, steampunk-themed video game that was originally released in 1993 for the Amiga and MS-DOS platforms. The game was developed by The Bitmap Brothers, a British video game development company known for their innovative and visually striking games. Set in an alternative Victorian-era world where steam-powered technology has gone awry, The Chaos Engine features a group of mercenaries known as the Chaos Engine who are tasked with infiltrating a series of dangerous and mysterious environments to defeat an evil mastermind who has unleashed chaos upon the land.

Players can choose from six unique characters, each with their own strengths and abilities, and embark on a fast-paced, top-down shooting adventure filled with hordes of enemies, challenging puzzles, and hidden secrets. The game features both single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes, allowing players to team up with a friend to tackle the game's challenging levels together.
