Terranigma Walkthrough - Chapter 4
You begin Chapter 4 as a baby living in Storkolm with your mother - Elle. Well, Ark's love affair with Elle just got a lot more complicated now I would say. When you regain control of Ark speak with both Elle and watch the scenes unfold. You'll eventually have to inspect the Pandora's Box just like we did at the start of the game and you'll meet another Yomi.
During the scenes you'll be given HeroPike and HeroArmr which is the best weapon and armor in the game. Exit the building you're in and a bird will give you a letter that tells you to meet the gang near Dr. Beruga's Lab. When you leave Storkolm you'll find yourself in an old dungeon. If you want to escape immediately use your BonePin jewelry. Otherwise you'll have to navigate out on foot!
If you're interested you still have time to complete the Town Expansion Sidequest as well. You have until you reach the point of no return - I will let you know before that happens. To reach our next destination you need to find an airstrip and fly back to Mosque - the same location as Dr. Beruga's Lab.
When you reach Mosque you'll want to travel northeast into Siberia; you're looking for a small castle surrounded by mountains (pictured below).
Enter the dungeon and follow the linear route through each room - every couple of rooms you'll get help from someone you met during your journey. At some point your path will dead end in a giant room with a lot of robots, you'll need to find Meihou in this large room and then enter the room south of Meihou's room. Interact with the computer in this room and you will have a scene. Doing this will open the shutters that lead to the hangar.
When you reach the hangar you'll need to drop down the massive hole to land on an Air Ship. Enter the Airship to find Fyda and Royd who will give you 7 Time Bombs and tell you to set them on each of the computers inside of the ship. You can find most of the computers in the central part of the ship and one on the left wing and another on the right wing.
After setting all of the Time Bombs you'll need to run to the back of the ship, you'll have a scene here after which you'll need to speak with the gull and ride it down to Airsrock. There will be another short scene before you regain control - leave this area and head over to South America.
Our destination is the very first hole that we crawled out of at the start of Chapter 2. If you've forgotten where this is, it's in South America NW from the town of Liotto. Enter into the cave on the side of the mountain and you will find an area called Portal; Columbus will be waiting for you here.
This is the point of no return
Columbus will tell you that this is the point of no return and he is correct. Once you fall down into the hole it's a straight shot to the final boss and that's the end of the game. Save using the book and when you're ready jump down into the hole. From here you'll want to return to Crysta and when you're back in Crysta speak with the Elder. This will start a long scene after which the final boss fight will begin.
As with most games, the final fight takes two forms. The first form looks like a giant action figure and the only way to damage it will be to bounce back the Orb of Light that it shoots at you. You need to be standing on the far left or far right side of the platform in order for the bounce back to hit Dark Gaia. If you're in the middle you will miss and you'll get annoyed like I did.
Once you hit the boss with the Orb of Light he will make a spiky ball out of his torso and fly around trying to hit you. I recommend you use the Run+A attack during this entire part of the fight and go back and forth using it across the platform. You'll want to do this for two reasons, the first is because you're invulnerable while doing it. The second reason is because you can hit the blue spiky ball occasionally to speed the fight up. One hit from you will end this fight 10x faster.
Phase 2 is a little bit different, the boss will be flying around this time and you can hit him with your normal attacks. However, you're still going to be stuck on a platform and your attack window will be extremely small. During Phase 2 the boss also has the most annoying attack in the game, occasionally he will do a massive beam of light which takes up the majority of the screen. You can't dodge this attack, you must block it by holding the R button.
When you are hit by this attack it will always halve your HP. For this reason I recommend you never heal past half health during this boss fight - unless you're really good at catching and blocking this attack. As for hitting the boss, you can only hit him when the opening on his lower chest flies near your platform. You'll have a brief 2 second or so window to deal some damage when he gets this close.
After dealing enough damage to the boss the fight will end and you'll awaken in Crysta, visit the Elder's room and then go to sleep when you want to see the credit roll. That is the conclusion of Terranigma.
