Terranigma Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Part 1)

This town is a lot like Crysta in the design, if you stay inside and keep going straight north you will eventually find Kumari (pictured below). Alternatively, you can go outside and climb up to the top of the town and reach him this way. Speak with Kumari to advance the story then go directly south to the entrance of town and talk with Meihou. Then go back to Kumari and talk with both Meihou and Kumari again.

Kumari In Lhasa

Before leaving town you should visit the shop and purchase a MonkRobe, it's an upgrade for your chest armor. If you'd like to get a Magirock exit town and head back to Safarium to play a mini game. You can also find another Magirock in an alternative area NE of the Gobi Desert; which is our next destination.

Northeast of Lhasa you will find a bridge, across that bridge will be a wide open desert called the Gobi Desert. Enter into the Gobi Desert and follow the little girl until you reach the town of Louran. We have a few story objectives to do in Louran but first you'll want to visit the store and purchase a BrnzPike. If you lack the money don't worry about it, but it's an upgrade.

Louran Walkthrough

In Louran you'll want to find and speak with Temjin, tell him to take his money with him when he dies. This will get us 500 Gems later in the dungeon so do it now. Next, you'll want to visit Meilin's House which is north of Temjin's House. Search the back room and get the Magirock then climb the chimney to speak with Meilin.

Meilin will yell at you and berate you and tell you to leave town. Exit her house and visit the "inn" which is kind of just a villager's home with two beds. When you enter into this villager's house she will tell you that a bed is prepared for you and to have a good sleep. Sleep in the bed when you are ready to advance the story.

Yomi will wake you up in the middle of the night because Louran transforms into a town of the dead. This is now our next dungeon.

Louran Important Loots:

1. Red Scarf (Meilin's House)
2. 7 Magirocks
3. LightRod (Found on E Side of town. Very strong against undead)
4. Holy Seal (Found on E Side of town. Prevents you from getting kicked back to town square by ghosts - Equip immediately)
5. STR Potion (Found on N Side of town)
6. Temjin's grave, northern most grave in the cemetery

To complete this dungeon you will need to visit Meilin's House for the Red Scarf and then the cemetery to speak with Turbo. You'll find the Red Scarf on the ground in Meilin's House, it's kinda hard to see. Once you have the scarf the next important piece of loot is the Holy Seal. Any time you encounter a ghost in this dungeon they will take you back to the Square - unless you have this item.

When you're ready to find Turbo you'll want to make your way over to the North Side of town. In order to get to this part of town you'll need the Holy Seal item; without this item ghosts won't let you get by. To reach this northern part of town you'll first want to visit the W Side of town and enter into a secret door (pictured below).

Louran Path To North Side

It's pretty hard to find this doorway unless you know it's here. The only clues you get are the line of zombies that enter the door each time you enter the area. Also, before you turned Louran into a town of dead people there was some dialogue with someone building a doorway here.

Enter this door and climb up the chimney in this room; in the next room you'll have to run through a narrow hallway with two ghosts inside. As stated previously, these ghosts won't bother you if you have the Holy Seal item equipped. You can't proceed through this hall without the item.

When you get back outside enter the building to the north, inside you'll find a chest with 178 Gems inside of it. Right next to this chest will be a table, if you crawl under it Yomi will tell you that some zombies are coming. Reposition yourself under the table so that your head is sticking out a bit and you will get a hidden scene with some zombies chatting about you (pictured below).

Louran Hidden Scene
Hide under the table in northern Louran for a hidden scene

To reach the cemetery travel through the N Side of town; the exit in the bottom right corner of the N Side will take you to the cemetery. In the cemetery you'll need to clear out all of the zombies first; after that inspect the northern grave for 500 Gems. These 500 Gems will only be available if you told Temjin earlier to "take his money to the grave with him".

Equip the Red Scarf we got earlier from Meilin's House and speak with Turbo in the top right corner of the cemetery. He will follow you out of the cemetery after which you'll have to follow him. Turbo will lead you to a house in the northern part of N Side Louran. Once inside he'll take you downstairs to a suit of armor within the building that has Meilin.

Watch the scene with Meilin and Turbo after which you'll want to exit the building. Surprisingly, outside you'll find Meihou from Lhasa. He will tell you to visit the Nomads north of where we are now before crossing the desert to the west. That's all for Louran, you're now free to leave town.

Before we continue with the story we should do some side questing first. This is optional, but if you want the whole experience of playing this game you should probably do it.

Side Questing: Neotokio

In order to reach Neotokio you'll first need to travel back to Safarium and speak with the gull here. Remember that you can't understand animals anymore, so you have to choose the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dialogue option at the gull. He will fly you back to KingNest, speak with the middle gull and choose !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! again. He will fly you to a small island which is where you can find our next town/dungeon.

You can find two Magirock items inside of Neotokio, when you enter town go into the building on the left and search the apartment rooms for one. The next Magirock is found inside of a Noodle shop, there are two noodle shops but only one has the item. You'll have to do a mini game to win this item from the shop, press A + B over and over again to eat the noodles as fast as possible. If you win the Magirock is yours. My advice for this part is to spam A + B as fast as humanly possible with two hands. Using one hand won't be enough.

To fight the boss in this town you'll want to go north up the stairs and over to the empty plot of land. Inspect the trash can in the top right here near the empty plot and agree to Help what's inside. You will be thrown into a small room (pictured below) where you will be lectured like you're a five year old.

Miserly Ghost is the bosses name and he will say things like, "Who doesn't clean their room?", "Who doesn't finish all their food?" and things like that. Honestly, I think the intention was to have the boss say things that your mother tells you growing up - if that was the intention they did a good job.

Miserly Ghost Boss Fight
Neotokio Miserly Ghost Boss Fight

Like usual, the best strategy for this boss involves using the Run+A dashing attack to deal damage. You'll have a brief window to attack each time the boss pops up from the ground and charges off into the distance. Use this brief window to hit him with a dashing attack and deal good damage.

Once you defeat the boss you'll want to speak with the chicken who appears between the two beds. He will tell you that he works for Quintet and will make a game with you as the hero. When you exit this boss arena you'll now be able to enter the Quintet building too which is where the empty plot was before. Talking with the frogs inside that are sitting at each computer desk will get you a bunch of unique and silly messages from the developers.

When you're done playing around in Neotokio exit town and return to the gull, fly back to KingNest. Speak with the gull on the left at KingNest to fly back to Safarium. Exit Safarium and travel back to the Gobi Desert.

Nomads, Desert and Loire

Before you can make it across the the desert you'll want to speak with the group of Nomads north of Louran. The Nomads will give you a series of instructions that you need to remember (I copied them below) to navigate the desert. When you're ready to continue with the story travel west of the Nomads and through the desert.

Nomad Instructions To Get Through The Desert:

1. Walk west until you find 3 boulders in the shape of a triangle (The Triangle Stones)
2. Turn south and walk down until you find boulders shaped like a snake
3. From the snake you'll want to travel NW
4. Once you run into dragon skulls turn north and go straight
5. You'll find a big skull right near the exit of the desert that we need; walk alongside this skull and you will exit the desert

The hardest direction to follow from the list above is #3, I found the dragon skulls about three screens west and six screens north of the rocks shaped like a snake. It's NOT a straight NW to reach the dragon skulls. After making it through this desert you'll want to travel west to find Loire, Loire Castle and a small sub area north of both with a Magirock.

The Town of Loire

Upon entering Loire for the first time you'll want to visit the Merchant here and purchase a SlvrPike weapon. You can also buy the LightRod if you didn't get it in the previous dungeon; there is a new piece of armor available too called RingMail but I recommend waiting because you'll get it for free soon. You'll also want to buy two Pretty Flowers from the flower girl in the town square of Loire.

Once you're done shopping the next person you'll want to talk with is Louis, he's found inside of Louis's House in western Loire. Urge Louis to speak about the Bell of Protection and his failure in Storkolm, this is an important dialogue flag that you need. After that's done head to the Inn and watch the scene, then sleep to advance the story.

When you wake up in the morning you'll want to speak with the new guy standing at the table in the Inn. He'll tell you about mushrooms and a forest, we'll be finding this mushroom in the near future. Before we do all of that though let's head to Loire Castle. Exit Loire and enter the castle to the north on the World Map.

All you need to do in Loire Castle is visit the second floor and tell the guard you're here to enter into the groom contest. If you're having trouble finding this guard exit the portion of the castle you're in and return to the first entrance hallway. The castle forks in this location and leads to two totally distinct areas.

Enter the groom contest and then wait in the room to the right. Speak with the blue haired guy in this room to advance the story and then speak with the King, Elle and the butler in the throne room. You'll learn that Elle is mute and the person who can cure that will get to marry her. During this part you're told about a time limit but there is none so don't worry.

That's all we can do inside of the castle for right now, exit to the World Map and travel north of Loire to a small house on the map known as Molly's. Our destination isn't actually this house, but the forest area to the right of it. If you enter the forest next to Molly's you'll zone into a small subarea known as Mush.

Mushroom in Mush
You can find the Mushroom in Mush between the two trees

In Mush we need a single item, the Mushroom. Once you loot this item return to Loire and equip it. After that, talk with the guy standing at the table in the Inn. He will take your Mushroom and make you a Sleep Potion, sleep in the Inn and then pick up your potion. Return to the castle and this time find the Kitchen; equip the Sleep Potion and when the Maid isn't looking pour it into the cauldron.

You can find the Kitchen in the same part of the castle as the groom event from before. After you pour the potion into the cauldron you'll be removed from the castle. Enter it again and this time everyone will be asleep. For the first time you have to visit the opposite wing of the castle to advance the story. Before you do that though, you should visit the Jail and free White Wind who is currently being held prisoner.

Find the Quarters portion of the castle (it's in the same wing as the Kitchen) and go downstairs in here. Talk with White Wind in his jail cell, interact with the guard then equip the Jail Key that you get. Use this item on the jail door and you'll free White Wind.

When you're ready to advance the story you'll want to go up to the Princess' and King's room and you'll find Princess Elle standing in a hallway. There will be a short scene with Elle after which she'll run off. Ignore the direction she went, instead go north towards the King and Princess' bedrooms. Run into the guard that blocks the hallway to push him, now that he is asleep he's easily movable! Next you'll need to visit the King's room and push the gold statue out of the way in the top right (pictured below).

Loire Castle Gold Statue King Room

Climb into the hole and go down the sets of stairs to find a Magirock and the Protect Bell. That's all we need from this place, you can exit the Loire Castle now. Back on the World Map you'll want to head north to continue the story, our next destination is Norfest Forest.

Tip: Visit the Nomads camp near Gobi Desert and equip the Pretty Flower that we purchased from Loire. Speak with the mute girl in the NW house and she will tell you her name, Chija. This is important if you want a Magirock in a later town that we visit, I will talk a bit more about that side quest when we get there too, but it'll require more backtracking in the future if you don't do this part now.

Norfest Forest Walkthrough

Our next dungeon is Norfest Forest, you can find this place north of Loire. Go north as far as you can go until you hit Molly's House and Mush; from here you'll want to travel southwest along the mountain range until you reach a peninsula in the south. The forest on this peninsula is Norfest Forest.

When you first enter Norfest Forest (not the first area with the blue haired guy, but the hallway after) go southeast at your earliest opportunity. You'll find a RingMail in a chest here which is an upgrade for you, assuming that you didn't already buy one in Loire.

You will quickly notice that this dungeon is much harder than the previous areas we've been through. The monsters in here will hit you for 5 - 15 damage on average unless you get to 21+, which is something I would recommend you do before completing this place. From here the game is going to get harder and harder so you'll need to be more careful or out level your opponents, either way.

Navigate Norfest Maze: North, North, East, North

The first part of this dungeon is a maze, follow the directions above and you will come across a broken bridge (pictured below). Once you reach this bridge you'll know that the maze portion is done.

Norfest Broken Bridge

From the bridge go southeast to continue, the next few parts of the dungeon are pretty linear. There will be a scene of something following you and some dialogue after that of Ark getting a weird feeling. Once you get the weird feeling search the forest to your right to find a Dog Whistle. This item is required to advance the story in a little bit so you must get it.

When you hear the scream turn around and investigate it to uncover Meilin. Talk with her and bring her with you. It's worth noting that directly east of where you find Meilin is the transition to the lake map where the Dog Whistle is found. Her location is an even better landmark.

In the screen after Meilin you'll find a Magirock to the right. The very next screen you'll find a Magirock in the northeast (go up one screen to find it). When you get far enough into the dungeon to find another lake you'll find another Magirock southwest of it. Eventually you will come to a town that looks just like Crysta and you'll be greeted by some dogs (pictured below).

Use the Dog Whistle that you got earlier to scare the dogs away. To use it equip it first just like you do for every other item.

Dog Whistle To Clear Wolves
Use your Dog Whistle to clear the wolves

Go inside of the Elder's House and visit what was his room, loot the chests to get a M. Bulb and a Portrait. If you'd like some dialogue visit the weaver's house and inspect the door. That's all we need to do in this town, you can now exit Storkolm and return to Loire Castle.

Return to the Royal Chamber in the castle and there will be a scene with Meilin and the Portrait that we just got. Enter the Royal Chamber and speak with the King for another scene, after it's done you'll be sent back to the Inn and when you regain control of your character it will be morning.

When you exit your room at the Inn you'll learn that the King is dead and it happened the night prior. There's now an election happening in this town and you get to vote for the next leader. For this part the only person you should vote for is Jean. If you vote for anyone else then Loire will be permanently screwed and unable to ever grow into a bigger town. This will lock you out of some future dialogue and events.

Note: Jean is the free market capitalist, the most successful economic system that has ever been devised, that has raised billions of people out of poverty across the history of humanity. Louis wants communism, which has failed and killed millions throughout history. The choice here isn't a tough one for you, is it? I know some of you reading this will blame capitalism for killing millions too, I encourage you to use the Socratic Method and read Steven Pinker's book, Enlightenment Now. If you are approaching this topic from a point of genuine understanding you will have a hard time refuting the evidence provided by this book, the studies it links to and the evidence it provides. I wish you the best in your life long journey of education!

Enter a building and exit to get the vote underway, then register your vote at the ballot box in the middle of town (pictured below). Go back into a building and exit again - talk with people in the town square to watch the results of the election.

Loire Vote For Jean
Make sure you vote for Jean or the town will fail to develop

Once the election is over you'll be allowed to pass through the Tollgate and continue south to the next areas below it. Stop by Litz and grab the Luck Potion that's found in a chest in the NW part of town. Litz is also the first town that sells L. Bulbs at a vendor - which you should stock up on since we need more healing items. I'd recommend buying a SlvrVest from the vendor here too since it's an upgrade for us.

The last optional thing you can do before the next dungeon is enter the Quatro's Camp south of Litz. You can give a lady a massage in one of the tents for some Gems. Exit the tent and enter it again and you can keep massaging the girl as many times as you want - it isn't the best Gems though and not much worth it in my opinion.

When you're ready to continue with the story you'll want to head north into the castle on the World Map. This dungeon is known as Sylvain Castle.
