Soul Blazer Walkthrough - Chapter 3
The last part of this walkthrough ended just as we entered the town model in Dr. Leo's Laboratory. You'll find the town model littered with toy soldiers that include archers, horseback lancers and ground soldiers. There are also invisible soldiers in the town - you can see their weapons right now but none of their body. Even though you can't see them, if you swing your sword you'll still hit them!
Inside of the town model you're looking for the Great Door unlock back in Dr. Leo's Laboratory. Once you get this unlock you'll want to return to the lab and speak with the door to the east of the town model you enter/exit from. The door will turn into the Soul of Detection for you which will allow you to see invisible enemies. While this isn't required (since you can hit the invisible enemies anyway) it will definitely help.
You will need to actually speak with this door - that means pressing the B button as you are running through it. If you don't press B you'll pass through this door like any other door and nothing will happen.
Press B while passing through the door on the 2nd floor to make it join you
Now that we can see invisible enemies in the town models you'll want to return there and clear out all of the remaining enemies. Make sure when you press Start there are 0 monsters left; that's how you will know that all of them have been defeated. Return to Dr. Leo's Laboratory and if you need to heal visit the room next door where we spoke with the door previously. In here you'll find a devout mouse who will tell you to speak with the podium to heal.
That's really all we can do in the laboratory for the time being, enter the second town model when you're ready to continue with the dungeon(s). You'll find this second town model right next to the first one. Clear all 10 monster panels in the second town model then return to the laboratory to get some items.
In Dr. Leo's Laboratory the first thing you'll want to do is speak with the plant in the room north of the town models. The plant will give you Actinidia Leaves when you speak with it, equip these in your inventory (they're just called Leaves in your inventory). Return to the ground floor and with the leaves equipped you'll want to speak with both cats, lead them out of the room and into the hallway.
Return to the room and speak with the mouse, he will thank you and invite you into his mouse hole. Speak with a mouse in the northern portion of this area to get the Spark Bomb magical spell. Once you have that you're done here and free to leave. To continue with the dungeon you'll want to go downstairs in the room with the blue teleportation tile. This will take you to a new dungeon called Power Plant.
Power Plant is a rather short dungeon, the main reward that you'll want to get in here is the Light Armor. To reach the boss in the Power Plant (from the entrance) you'll have to go east as far as you can and then south as far as you can. After going as far south as possible you'll need to go west; you will run into the blue teleportation pad while doing west which is the best landmark for you.
From the blue teleportation pad you'll want to go northwest until you hit your corner - from here go east and you'll find a set of stairs that go down. To summarize the directions, you're basically going clockwise around the entire room. Make sure that you're ready before challenging the next boss because once you go down these stairs the boss fight will begin.
When fighting the Tin Doll I recommend you stand on the western end of the boss arena near the flowers. Just like the previous boss, I find the best strategy to be holding your sword like a poke-stick. If you're unsure what I mean - hold L or R and you'll hold your sword like a spear. For some reason this attack seems to do the most damage to bosses.
Equip the Medical Herb if you get low on health so that you don't die and then re-equip either your Power Bracelet or the Shield Bracelet. I personally always use the Shield Bracelet because I play sloppily, especially when writing guides at the same time.
Once you defeat the boss step on the final green panel to free the doll, Marie. Return to Dr. Leo's Laboratory and visit the attic (it's to the north of the two town models we used earlier); this is where you'll find Marie. Talk with Marie and she'll give you the Purple Stone. We're done in this place now, return to Master's Shrine o' fast travel and from here you'll want to step on the golden tile in the north. Teleport to the new area, the Castle of King Magridd.
Castle of King Magridd & Dungeon Walkthrough
As always, there is nothing we can do right now in the first area so head right for the dungeon. Much like the previous dungeon you're going to unlock a new sword here rather quickly and this will cause us to go back to one area in a previous dungeon to get a new magic spell and a story item.
Clear most of the enemies in the first part of the dungeon and you'll find the Spirit Sword inside of a chest in the northwest (pictured below). Equip this immediately so you can deal with the annoying ghosts flying around the dungeon. You'll also want to grab the Harp String which is found right next to the chest with the Spirit Sword.
See the large red circle in my screenshot overtop of that skeleton body? Walk over top of that and you'll find the Harp String. This is an item we'll need for later. Once you have both you'll want to exit this dungeon the same way that we entered.
The Spirit Sword will let you defeat spirit enemies
Find the Wizard's Shrine o' fast travel and use this to Move on the World Map back to GreenWood (the second dungeon). The spot we're looking for in GreenWood is the Light Shrine, you can get there from the Master's Shrine - it's the portal on the right.
All we need to do in the Light Shrine is defeat all of the bouncing fireball enemies on this floor and then step on the tile in the northwest to spawn a bird back in town. Go upstairs and defeat all of the bouncing fireball enemies up here too, this will spawn a chest for you when you step on the tile in the northwest. You'll find a new magical spell, Flame Pillar inside.
Once you have the new magical spell it's time to revisit GreenWood and chase some birds to get a key item! Search the western portion of GreenWood for a bird, it will fly east when you get near it. The bird's new location will be nearby a stump in the east. You'll have to sneak up on it to get the key item that we need.
To sneak up on this bird you'll need to go north around the theater and approach it from behind. When you get close to the bird do not collide with it or it'll fly away again. What you need to do is press the talk button when you get close to it so that you bring up a dialogue box instead of scaring it away. If you bring up a dialogue box you'll be given the Red-Hot Mirror which is the item that we need.
Approach the bird from behind to speak with it and claim the mirror
We're done in GreenWood now, it's time to return to the Castle of King Magridd dungeon that we left earlier. You'll find the stairs down to the next part of this dungeon directly south of where we found the Spirit Sword, defeat all the monsters on this floor to unlock the stairs.
Keep progressing through the dungeon until you unlock a blue teleportation tile, if you want to heal up back in town use it. Also, if you want to get the Elemental Armor you can do that now by talking with the Soldier who is asleep in the western part of town. Make sure you have the Dream Rod equipped and you'll get the armor when the scene is done. I'll bring this up again later when we collect all the goodies in town.
Directly west of this teleportation tile you'll find the next Emblem, Emblem B. The chest with this is invisible to you until you get the Soul of Reality later in the dungeon but you can get it right now if you search the right spot (pictured below). I will bring up this item again later incase you missed it your first time through. Sometimes I am on auto pilot while doing these dungeons and I bet many others are too!
You can find the Emblem B in an invisible chest to the west of the first blue teleporter tile
After you clear all of the monsters in the Basement of the Castle dungeon it's time to return to town so that we can collect some loot and unlock the next dungeon. Use the blue teleportation tile to quickly return to town, the first thing you'll want to do is get the Elemental Armor I brought up earlier (equip the Dream Rod & enter the soldier's dream in the western part of town).
The next thing you'll want to get is the Platinum Card which you need to access the next dungeon. Equip the Harp String that we got earlier and speak with the singer in the large building in the southwest part of town. When he starts performing again a guard will move from the back of the room to the front. Search the area where this guard was standing before and you'll get the Platinum Card.
If you're having trouble finding the location - search behind the pew closest to the front door on the right hand side. You don't have to press any buttons to pick this up, simply walk across the floor and you will automatically loot it when you step in the right spot.
Equip the Platinum Card and then go northwest to the top of town, talk with the guard and he'll move out of the way letting you into a tower. This tower is the next dungeon, we are going to do a really brief portion of this and then leave because we need something important in town.
After defeating all monsters on the first floor of the tower you'll want to exit and talk to someone back in town (pictured below). You'll find this soldier 3 houses down from the southwestern most house. Talk with him inside and he will join you as the Soul of Reality, just like the other souls before him.
Speak with the soldier in town to get the Soul of Reality to join you
Now that you have the Soul of Reality you'll want to grab the Emblem B if you didn't get it earlier. How to get Emblem B: Go into the Master's Shrine o' fast travel and step on the left teleporter, you'll find the chest with Emblem B to the west. It's invisible until you get the Soul of Reality but you can get it earlier if you know where to look.
Once you've got that return to the Left Tower and finish clearing the entire dungeon. At the end you'll find a Fairy Gem which will teleport you back to town. Speak with the Queen in town (found in the northeast) and tell her that she is pretty. As thanks you'll be given the VIP Card which lets you access the North Tower dungeon.
Tip: You'll want to go out of your way to defeat as many EXP mobs as possible. Some monsters in these dungeons respawn even after all of the green tiles have been eliminated. Pay attention to which mobs these are and go out of your way to farm them. We have a very difficult boss coming up and you'll want to be level 22+ for him.
The North Tower is four floors in total and on the top floor you'll find Dr. Leo, speak with him and then watch the scene play out. During the scene Dr. Leo will pass you the Mobile Key which is the item we need to face the next boss, before we do that though you'll want to return to town again.
In town you'll find two items that are of importance. The first is the final Master's Emblem that we need, Master's Emblem H. You'll find this by searching to the right of the castle's entrance (pictured below). You don't have to press any buttons to find this item or the next one, if you walk over the spot shown you will automatically pick it up.
Next is the Invulnerable Bracelet which you'll find where the Queen was standing before the previous cutscene. Unlike the name suggests, this bracelet only raises your Strength and Defense by two points. It doesn't make you invulnerable.
If you have been following my guide since the start, you now have all of the Master's Emblem items that you need to make the Magic Bell. Go to GreenWood and travel west of the Great Tree to find a Fairy Gem. If you haven't knocked it down yet talk with the deer standing near a tree or the deer on the southern island twice. The deer will knock down the gem for you, talk with the Fairy and if you have all 8 emblems you'll be given the Magic Bell.
That's all we need to do before challenging the next boss. When you're ready to fight the next boss return to the Castle of King Magridd dungeon and use the blue tile on the right in the Master's Shrine. This will take you back to the top of the Right Tower. Return to the ship where Dr. Leo sacrificed himself and equip the Mobile Key that he gave you. Inspect the wheel at the helm of the ship and you will begin the next boss fight.
Demon Falcon is the name of our next boss and this is arguably the hardest boss in the entire game. I strongly recommend you use the Shield Bracelet for this fight. This boss only has two attacks, the first is to shoot lines of fire down the ship which you can easily dodge by going left/right. His next attack is a diving attack - he flies down at an angle to hit you.
For this entire fight you'll have to deal with high winds while flying the ship and the boss attacking you. The high winds will push you around the ship in every direction which makes it more difficult to dodge the boss's attacks and hit back. Normally for this fight what I did is hold my sword like a spear by pressing L or R (aka the poke-stick strategy). I would press up on the D-pad occasionally to run up so that I didn't get blown down the entire ship and I would do left-right to dodge the fire attacks the boss uses.
My primary strategy for this fight involved standing in the middle/back of the ship. When the boss comes down to use his line of fire attack he will be positioned in the middle of the ship. You can stab him with your sword during this time and inflict a ton of damage. Doing this made the fight very easy for me.
Alternatively, you can dodge the fire when he does it and hold your sword to hit him during the dive bomb attacks. This is a much more difficult strategy in my experience. Once you beat the boss step on the green tile to free the King and then go speak with him. As a thanks the King will give you a Black Stone - with that we're now done with this town.
