Operation Thunderbolt is a scrolling shooter arcade game developed and published by Taito in 1988. It was later ported to various home consoles, including the SNES, Genesis, and TurboGrafx-16. The game is a sequel to Taito's earlier game Operation Wolf and is based on the real-life Operation Thunderbolt rescue mission by the Israeli Defense Forces. Players control a special forces soldier tasked with rescuing hostages from a terrorist organization. The game features a cover system where players can take cover behind objects to avoid enemy fire and reload their weapons. It also introduced a two-player mode where players can work together to complete the mission.
