Level 3 Key Spheres

For Level 3 Key Spheres the earliest possible location to farm them is in Zanarkand Ruins off of Defender Z. The Uncommon drop from this mob is a Level 2 Key Sphere; the rare drop from him is a Level 3 Key Sphere. If you're reading this page and you haven't yet made it past the Zanarkand Ruins I strongly recommend you stop there for a few hours to farm. You'll be able to get a decent amount of Level 2 and 3 Key Spheres.

If you've made it past Zanarkand Ruins the best location to farm the Level 3 Key Spheres will definitely be the Omega Ruins. The Omega Ruins have Defender Z mobs too; they even come in packs here! Not only that but you're much more likely to find other rare spheres while you grind Omega Ruins. Return Sphere, Friendship Sphere and things of that nature.

The final piece of advice for farming spheres from mob drops is getting 'Overkill' on an enemy will get you double the rewards after the battle. You should try to always get an Overkill strike on a Defender Z for this reason. If you're having trouble killing them or getting an Overkill try using Auron's Armor Break.

If you just want to acquire a ton of Level 3 Key Spheres really quickly the best way to do so is by bribing the Demonolith enemy Inside Sin. If you don't know much about bribing then I strongly recommend you check out the FFX Wikia on the topic. When you go Inside Sin - don't venture past the first room where you have the Save Sphere and where your Airship is and you'll still be able to turn back and leave.

Defender Z (Zanarkand Ruins & Omega Ruins) - rare drop the common drop is a level 2 sphere

Behemoth King (Inside Sin)

Demonolith (Inside Sin)

Machea (Omega Ruins)

 

Monsters you can Bribe/Steal Level 3 Key Spheres from:

Demonolith (Inside Sin) - 900,000gil will get you 40

Biran (Mt. Gagazet solo fight with Kimahri)
If you get Steal on Kimahri prior to the fight with the Ronso brothers at the start of Mt. Gagazet you can Steal Level 3 Key Spheres from them. Apparently you can Steal as many as you'd like during this encounter, your chances of successfully stealing another just decrease with each successful Steal.
