Sword Skill Set for Hero

Swords are the strongest Skill Set for the Hero in Dragon Quest VIII. Metal Slash is one of the most useful abilities to have when hunting Metal Slimes, which reward you with the most EXP per kill of any monster in the game. Falcon Slash is a great replacement for auto attacks, effectively dealing two attacks at once and the final ability rewarded to you for maxing Swords is one of the most powerful attacks the Hero can use.

 

4 Points: +5 Attack Increase while using Swords

9 Points: Dragon Slash - Causes 50% more damage to Dragon Enemies. All other enemy types will take regular damage.

15 Points: Flame Slash - Causes 50% more damage than a regular attack.

22 Points: +10 Attack Increase while using Swords

30 Points: Metal Slash - Has a high hit % against Metal Slime enemies; deals regular damage to all other enemies.

40 Points: Critical Hit Chances Increased with Swords

52 Points: Falcon Slash - You hit the enemy twice with this attack. Once you get Falcon Slash you should always use this in place of auto attack.

66 Points: +25 Attack Increase while using Swords

82 Points: Miracle Slash - Attacks the enemy with a regular attack but 50% of the damage dealt is recovered in HP.

100 Points: Gigaslash - Deals 160 - 190 base damage and up to a total of 240 damage. Your character's level determines how much damage this ability deals.

100 Points into Sword & Courage: Gigagash - Replaces the Gigaslash ability. Deals 220 - 285 damage and up to a total of 340. Your character's level determines how much damage this ability deals.
