Area 51 is a first-person light gun shooter arcade game developed and published by Atari Games (now Midway Games) in 1995. It was later released on various home gaming consoles, including the Sega Saturn. In Area 51, players assume the role of a protagonist, a Hazmat (hazardous materials) operative named Ethan Cole, who is sent to investigate a mysterious and dangerous alien outbreak at a secret military research facility located in Area 51, a highly classified area in Nevada, USA. As Ethan, players must battle through hordes of mutant creatures and alien enemies using a variety of weapons, including pistols, shotguns, machine guns, and grenades, while uncovering the truth behind the alien invasion.

The game features fast-paced, on-rails gameplay, where players navigate through various levels and areas of the facility, encountering different enemy types, solving puzzles, and uncovering secrets along the way. The game also includes full-motion video (FMV) cutscenes that progress the story and provide additional context to the game's plot.
