Eden Card - FF8 Guide

The Eden Card is obtained by defeating Ultima Weapon inside of the Deep Sea Research Center which you can first access after acquiring the Ragnarok on Disc 3. Ultima Weapon is the final boss of this dungeon and one of the more difficult enemies to fight in the game.

On Disc 4 if you completed the Card Club Side Quest you'll be able to play members of the CC Group on Lunar Base and win this card as well as many other Rare Cards from them. This quest must be completed prior to the end of Disc 3 for you to take advantage of it during Disc 4.

You can Card Mod the Eden Card into 3 Monk's Code items which when used will teach a GF the Counter Ability. Counter causes the character to attack with a regular melee attack when he's hit by an opponents single-target physical attack. It's basically this games version of counter attack.

The only GF that learns Counter naturally is Carbuncle, I don't consider this to be that useful of an ability so it's up to you if you'd like to teach it to your other GFs or not. An alternative use for the Monk's Code is you could use the (Forbid Med-RF) GF Ability on them and turn them into Str Up items. It's only a 1 to 1 conversion though so you're not going to get much out of this either. For being the most powerful GF in the game the card sure does stink!
