Carbuncle Card - FF8 Guide

The Carbuncle Card is won from the CC Group's Queen of Hearts who is actually Xu. You can find Xu for the majority of the game at the bridge in Balamb Garden (pictured above). If you don't already know, you won't be able to challenge Xu to a game of cards until you've beaten every member of the CC Group prior to her. Unlike many of the other card players in this game you should expect Xu to use very powerful cards, including Level 7 Boss Cards.

On Disc 4 if you completed the Card Club Side Quest you'll be able to play members of the CC Group on the Ragnarok and win this card as well as many other Rare Cards from them. This quest must be completed prior to the end of Disc 3 for you to take advantage of it during Disc 4.

You can Card Mod the Carbuncle Card into 3 Glow Curtains which on their own can be used to teach a GF the Auto Reflect ability. If you choose to use Supt Mag-RF on the Glow Curtains though you'll be able to turn them into Reflect magic instead.

Out of all the GFs the only one in the game that learns the Auto-Reflect ability naturally is Carbuncle. I personally don't think Reflect is that good of an ability since it prevents the character from being healed but there are some events where it actually helps. It's up to you if you'd like to teach this to your GFs "just incase" or just mod it into magic.
