Sector 5 Slums, Sector 6 & Wall Market - FF7 Walkthrough
When you wake up speak with Aeris until she tells you her name and allows you to advance the story. Eventually the Turks will show up and you'll have to speak with them then to Aeris again in order to advance the story forward. A few story scenes later and you'll have to push some barrels off the rafters of the Church ceiling to save Aeris from the Shinra Soldiers.
All three of the barrels and the order you have to push them in are marked in my screenshot above. If you're having trouble viewing it, click to enlarge it. Once you take out all of the Shinra Soldiers Aeris will join you on the roof and you'll flee out the ceiling of the Church.
Jump across the roof tops with Aeris until you find yourself back on dirt ground - there's a Save Point to the west which you'll want to make use of. Continue west one screen then north at the intersection to find yourself in the next town area.
There's no new Materia for sale here but there is some new armor you can purchase from the northern most shop. Sometime while passing through this area you're also going to want to go into the house on the bottom right which is where you'll find Turtle's Paradise News Letter No 1.
When you're done in town continue to the east to find Aeris's house. East of Aeris's house in the flower garden you'll find a Cover Materia as well as an Ether. To advance the story forward go into Aeris's house and speak to her mother.

Phoenix Down
Her mum asks you to leave in the middle of the night and Cloud agrees that would be for the best. When you regain control of Cloud again you'll want to pick up the Potion and Phoenix Down before WALKING down to the first floor. If you try to run you'll alert Aeris.
Exit the house and leave the Sector 5 Slums town area and continue west towards Sector 6. You'll find Aeris waiting for you and she rejoins your party here. As for the next area, it's not uncommon for people to get stuck here since the layout isn't intuitive. Use my screenshot below and the two arrows on it - that's the route you want to follow to get to the next area.
After following the cart that went by with Tifa you'll find yourself in the Wall Market - probably the most infamous area of Midgar in early Final Fantasy 7.... As this is where Cloud cross dresses! This town is also extremely tedious in terms of advancing the game forward. There are a lot of people we need to talk to here in order to advance the story.
I've broken down each step in the Wall Market into a succinct list to save you tons of time reading. Below this list of steps you'll find pictures which will explain any confusing parts in further detail.
1. Go to The Honeybee Inn & Speak to the man out front about Tifa (Lower right part of Wall Market)
2. Go to Don Corneo's Mansion entrance in the north & Speak with Guard
3. Talk to woman behind the counter at the Dress Shop
4. Speak with the drunk man at the bar and choose "SOFT" and "SHIMMERS" options
5. Return to dress shop and try on your dress
6. Go to the Gym and speak with the guy dressed like a girl here
7. Perform more Squats than the other guy to get a Blonde Wig
8. Go to the Materia Shop and speak with the man behind the counter
9. Spend an evening at the Inn and purchase the most expensive thing from the vending machine
10. Return the item to the man for a Diamond Tiara
11. Go to the diner and order any meal you want; when finished say "It was all right"
12. Take the Pharmacy Coupon to the Item Shop and trade it for Digestive (not the building with the Items sign, the one above it)
13. Go to the bar and give the Digestive to the person in the bathroom and she'll give you Sexy Cologne
14. Speak with the man in a white shirt in southeastern Wall Market for Member's Key to the Honeybee Inn
15. Go into one of the two free rooms in Honeybee Inn and collect your reward
16. Speak with one of the ladies in the Changing Room to get Makeup put on Cloud
17. Return to the Dress Shop and change into your costume
18. Go to Don Corneo's Mansion at the northern end of the Wall Market
Before advancing the story forward in this place I would recommend buying new weapons for Aeris and Tifa as well as Mythril Armlets for Cloud and Aeris from the weapon shop across the street from the Bar. We're going to be getting Tifa back before we fight any monsters again so you may as well buy her stuff too.

How to Get Silk Dress
Go to the dress shop in the central portion of Wall Market and talk to the guy running the store (screenshot above on the left). He'll tell you to go speak to his father who is currently getting shit faced at the bar one screen to the north. His father's the guy on the left hand side of the bar (screenshot above on the right), speak to him and tell him you want...

How to Get Blonde Wig
After you've obtained the dress you'll be told to visit the Gym and speak with the dude that looks like a lady standing near the boxing ring. Unless you get the dress first you won't be able to begin this task step. In order to win the Blonde Wig you'll need to out squat their compadre.
Depending on how good your timing is this may be harder than you'd like to admit. Thankfully you get a practice round before the actual squat battle - make the most of that.
How to Get Diamond Tiara
Go to the Materia Shop in the northeastern portion of the central Wall Market (it has a blue sign and there is some dude cooking out front of the building). Inside the clerk will ask you to spend a night at the Inn and purchase an item for him. You'll want to purchase the most expensive item otherwise you'll get a lower quality tiara and lower your chances of Don Corneo picking you.
200 Gil Item: Diamond Tiara
100 Gil Item: Ruby Tiara
50 Gil Item: Glass Tiara
How to Get Sexy Cologne
In order to get the Sexy Cologne you will want to first go to the Diner and have a meal - any meal works but when you're finished eating make sure to answer "It was all right". He'll give you a Pharmacy Coupon as part of a promotion which you'll want to then take to the Item Shop.
Don't get the Item Shop confused with the building that's actually marked "Items" and that has a machine gun mounted on the ceiling. The actual item shop is one building to the north of this building. Speak with the clerk here and exchange the Pharmacy Coupon you have for some Digestive.
Take that Digestive to the bar and give it to the girl that's currently holding up the bathroom line. You'll be rewarded with the Sexy Cologne for giving her the Digestive.
How to Get Bikini Bottoms/Lingerie
Speak with the man wearing a white shirt in southeastern Wall Market, just outside the zone to the Honeybee Inn entrance screen. He's also shown in the screenshot above on the right. He'll give you a Member's Card which grants us access to the Honeybee Inn.
Head inside the Inn and the lady at the door will ask you to choose one of the two available rooms, which room you choose determines which of the two items you get.
Northwest Room: Lingerie
Southwest Room: Bikini Bottoms
Before leaving the Honeybee Inn you should also go into the northern most room, also known as the Dressing Room. Inside of here speak with the last furthest to the left to get some makeup put onto Cloud. That's all we need from this place, you can leave now.
Note: Apparently the Bikini Bottoms are only very marginally better than the Lingerie - I have read different reports online. Having either one helps you get picked though and the make up definitely helps too.
Back to the Dress Shop
Once you're done everything you need it's time to head back to the Dress Shop where this all began. Approach the dressing room and you'll trigger a scene where Cloud changes into his costume (pictured above). Once you've done this you can head north to Don Corneo's Mansion again.
Inside of the mansion when you regain control of Cloud go into the room on the 2F, left side of the screen. The only room that doesn't have a door, this leads down to the basement where Tifa is. Grab the Ether down here and speak with Tifa to advance the story forward.
What happens next depends on whether or not Cloud is selected by the Don. If he is then you won't have to fight a bunch of guys in the other room and you will get different story dialogue... That's really about it. Much of the dialogue here effects who goes on a date with you at the Gold Saucer too.
Note: There is a Hyper item hidden behind Don Corneo's bed if he chooses Cloud. Otherwise, in the room the guys chase you around in you'll find a Phoenix Down.
