Native Forest - Digimon World 1

The Native Forest is the first location with hostile enemies you will explore in the game. You will find a total of 7 Digimon to recruit in this area. It's important that you get Kunemon, Palmon and Coelamon as soon as possible since they will expand the town in important ways. The other Digimon are less important and can only be recruited later in the game.

 

Agumon

Requirement: N/A

You will be challenged by Agumon when you first enter the Native Forest. This is a required fight to progress the game, once beaten he will open up an item storage shop in town.

 

Kunemon

Requirement: N/A

Talk to Kunemon in the Kunemon's Bed section of Native Forest, you will have to feed him an item from your inventory and then beat him in a fight to make him join. Kunemon will clear a path to the Digimon Bridge area which makes getting there much easier.

 

Palmon

Requirement: N/A

You can find Palmon one screen to the south of the Native Forest's Toilet. Search along the northern portion of this screen and you will find him looking at some plants. You'll need to beat him in a fight to make him join, once he is in your town he will expand the Meat Farm to give 3 Giant Meat per day.

 

Coelamon

Requirement: N/A

Coelamon is found at Coela Point during the afternoon hours. You can find Coela Point to the south of Digimon Bridge, speak with the large shadow swimming in the water. After speaking with him he will repair the bridge to the north of you and let you jump across him to get to the other side. Once on the other side go north back across the bridge and circle back to Coelamon. Speaking to him a second time will make him join your city.

The reason Coelamon is so important is because he opens up the first real item shop in town. You will be using this shop a lot as the game progresses.

 

Ninjamon

Requirement: Recruit a Digimon who opens the Secret Item Shop in town

Ninjamon is one of the Digimon you'll have to go out of your way a bit to get. By the time he is available to recruit you will almost never be traveling through the area that he is found. You can only run into Ninjamon during the night time, he's found in the Digimon Bridge region which connects File City to Tropical Jungle.

When you enter Digimon Bridge go south to the area you see me in the picture above. Ninjamon has a ~5% chance of ambushing you each time you travel through this area at night.

 

Etemon

Requirement: 50+ Town Prosperity

To the east of where you got Palmon you'll find a tree with a door. If you inspect this door throughout most of the game it will tell you to go away. Once Mount Infinity is unlocked though you'll trigger a new scene when you approach it. A Digimon by the name of Etemon will ambush you and inflict a bunch of damage then fight you. Beat him and he will join the battle arena in the city.

 

Seadramon

Requirement: Recruit Shellmon & Read Bulletin Board #3

You'll need a fishing rod as well as some bait to fish up Seadramon. If you ask Seadramon to be friends he will give you the Blue Flute and access to Beetle Land. Check out my How to catch Seadramon Guide for more information about fishing him up.
