This is the fourth installment in the BoF series and it's, in my opinion, where you can notice the series start to take a turn for the worse. While I enjoyed the story of Breath of Fire IV and the combat system, I sincerely hated all the mini games. They peppered this game with so many different mini games that I honestly started to dread any time spent outside of dungeons because I knew they were going to throw some silly mini game at me that's required for progression.

Dragon Gem Locations and Guide
In addition to the Dragon Summons which are mentioned above; Ryu also has the power to transform into a dragon! A few Dragon Transformations are available to him at the start of the game but there are a few others which are found throughout the game - my guide has their locations and how to reach them.

World Map Fast Travel - Shift Location and Guide
There is a method of fast travel in Breath of Fire IV which lets you choose a location on the World Map by pressing Select and it'll allow you to port to that location. This ability is called Shift and you get it from the traveling child-like NPC whom teaches you about the game that you met multiple times throughout the early part of the game.
Later on in the game, after you return to Shyde and meet Marlok again, receiving payment for a Sandflier, you'll be able to acquire the Shift ability. The Teaching Girl who gives you Shift is found in the town of Shyde at the far side, all you need to do is speak to her for this ability - there are no other requirements.
