Quest #147 Licensed to Drive - Starflight Express
Quest Requirements: Complete the Starflight License Exam by speaking with 9 different people in 9 different locations and only using the Starflight Express 6 times
Quest Pre-Requirements: Side Quest #146 Complete; This is a DLC Quest
Reward: Driver's License
This quest is given to you by Sterling onboard the Starflight Express and you must complete Side Quest #146 before Sterling will offer this quest up to you. For this quest you're going to have to pass the Driving License exam which is going to take quite a bit of running around to do.
During this quest you can not use Zoom or Evac otherwise you'll fail. You also can only pilot the Starflight Express a total of 6 times from location to location - that means you're going to want to plan your route very carefully before you take off/land.
Below is a succinct list of all 8 of the NPCs that you are going to have to talk to for this quest. I'll give a more detailed explanation below of how you should plan your route.
1. Batsureg: Conner behind a yurt
2. Heights of Loneliness: Victor at entrance
3. Bloomingdale: Dusty 2F of Church
4. Angel Falls: Godfrey Near Waterfall
5. Coffinwell: Dodger in NW part of town
6. Alltrades Abbey: Cribber at 1F Stairs
7. Wormwood Creek: Forger inside weapon shop
8. Goretress: Digby at the top of the tower
First place you're going to want to fly is Batsureg. In the northern portion of the town standing behind one of the yurts is the man named Conner that we're looking for. Speak with him for the first badge then use Sterling's Whistle to take off again.
Our next stop is the Heights of Loneliness which is east of Bloomingdale/south of Dourbridge. Standing outside the entrance of this dungeon you'll find a thug like character named Victor (Screenshot below). He's who you talk to for the second stamp. After you're done with him our next destination is the town of Bloomingdale to the west. You're going to want to run here on foot.
In Bloomingdale you'll find the NPC we're looking for on the second floor of the Church, the man's name is Dusty. After you've spoken to him you'll want to go outside so we can use Sterling's Whistle again... Our next stop is Angel Falls.
Fly the Starflight Express to Angel Falls and meet with Godfrey who is standing near the waterfall (pictured below). Our next stop after Angel Falls is the town of Coffinwell... But you're going to have to run here. If you use the Starflight Express now we won't have enough 'gas' to complete the last leg of the quest.
If you've forgotten how to get to Coffinwell it's east until you hit Stornway then north into the Coffinwell Region. If you go north too soon you'll end up in Zere, go through the Stornway checkpoint to get to Coffinwell instead. Still confused? Use this Dragon Quest IX Alchemy Materials Map for guidance. That will also give you some things to do on your way there too, grab some Alchemy ingredients!
You'll find Dodger in the northwestern part of Coffinwell standing behind what used to be Dr Phlegming's house (pictured below). Speak with him for the 6th stamp and then hop back onboard the Starflight Express. Our next stop is Alltrades Abbey and the man we're looking for is inside the building by the stairs leading down to B1. He's pictured below too.
Our next stop is the town of Wormwood Creek which you'll have to use the Starflight Express again to reach. You'll find Forger inside of the Weapon Shop in the central part of town, his location is shown below in the screenshot.
After you've spoken to him our next stop is Goretress which as you probably already guessed we have to fly there too. Assuming you've done the quest in the same order I have shown on this page you'll have one use left of the Starflight Express. So, use Sterling's Whistle and fly on over to Goretress next.
Inside Goretress the man we're looking for is at the top of the tower in the northern portion of the area. He's the final stamp we need to collect.
Use Sterling's Whistle to return to the Starflight Express and speak with Sterling who asks you to speak with Stella in the back of the Starflight Express. Doing this will lead to a few scenes and eventually the quest will be complete.
Completion of this quest unlocks the follow up given to you by Stella, Side Quest #148.
