Lake Hylia - Piece of Heart Locations & Guide
There are four pieces of heart which can be found around Lake Hylia. A majority of them come from an assortment of minigames that you can play in the area once you refill the lake with water prior to entering the Lakebed Temple. All four of the pieces of heart in Lake Hylia will be acquirable once you've obtained the Clawshot.
Lake Hylia First Piece of Heart - Flight by Fowl
The first piece of heart to get at Lake Hylia is from the minigame that starts at the house up along side the cliff near the Great Bridge of Hylia. You can see the place I am talking about in my screen shots for this location if you're confused. It's just a short run south from the Castle Town portal.
What we need to do here is speak to Falbi, the owner in charge of the Flight by Fowl minigame and buy a round to participate in. He'll tell you to grab a Cuccoo and move out of the way. In my experience it doesn't matter which Cuccoo you grab; any color works the same here.
Our goal here is to use the Cuccoo to glide down to the Isle of Riches, a raft of sorts floating in the center of Lake Hylia. On this Raft there are ledges and each of them gets smaller and contains a treasure chest. The upper most chest on the platform that isn't spinning contains the piece of heart.
Additionally before jumping off the isle of riches you may want to kill the Poe (#34) that spawns on the second platform at night. It can be a bit of a pain in the rear getting back here so might as well do two birds with one stone!
Lake Hylia Second Piece of Heart
For this Piece of Heart you'll need to have the Clawshot as well as a enough oil in your Latern to light two torches. Enter Lanayru's Spring in the southern portion of Lake Hylia it's the same place where we met the spirit whom asked us to collect the tears to lift the Twilight of this province.
Inside you'll notice some vines on the side of the cave which you can clawshot onto. Do so and travel to the southern most portion on the mini map which is a room with two chests that contain blue Rupees as well as two unlit torches. Light the torches to make your prize appear.
Lake Hylia - Third Piece of Heart
**Bring LOTS of Bombs with you before coming here**
The Third piece of heart to find in Lake Hylia is found inside of another cave that's to the south of the Lake Hylia Howling Stone as well as the place we port in at. If you're unfamiliar with where the Howling Stone is, from the port in location you have to travel across a steep wooden bridge and then up a ladder.
You'll find the Howling Stone right here with an obviously destructible boulder a bit further south of it. Blow up the boulder and enter the cave. Inside you'll notice that the cave has many unlit torches as well as a map that you must discover for yourself.
Inside of this cave you will find Poes (#31) (#32) (#33). Explore the entire cave and clear each room - they're all pretty easy to find and so long as you have enough bombs/lantern oil you'll be just fine.
Lake Hylia - Fourth Piece of Heart
For the last Piece of Heart you can obtain on Lake Hylia you'll want to transform into a wolf and head over to the whistling grass on the far shore of Lake Hylia. If you're having trouble locating this location just use my screen shot for some guidance.
This mini game is fairly easy if you know what you're doing. Essentially what you want to do is pick a type of fruit and -only- collect that specific type. You can choose Watermelon, Strawberry or Orange. I would urge anyone who is doing this to choose Oranges as they're semi large, worth a decent amount of points and plentiful.
The Strawberries give you a lot of points too but they're extremely hard to hit and they're placed in risky areas compared to the Oranges which are all fairly easy to see and grab. All you have to do is get a score of 10,000 and you'll be rewarded with a Piece of Heart. I got around 19,000 when I finished the challenge.
