A button: Talk to characters, select options in menus, confirm actions
B button: Cancel actions, open the menu screen, shoot Mega Buster
R button: Hold to charge the Mega Buster
L button: Press to jack-in/out, or use custom chip attacks
Start button: Open the menu screen
Select button: Open the subscreen

 

During battle:
