Ranger Headshot Guide - Minotaurs in DSH
***Notice*** Everyone reading this guide in 2018 or later should note that this guide was written in 2009 or so when Underfoot was the current expansion pack. As you can imagine a lot has changed in the game since that time and some of what you read in this guide may be inaccurate or misleading. I strongly recommend you use my more recent Dragonscale Hills Leveling Guide. Also, if you found this page through my older leveling guides, I would recommend you use one of my newer leveling guides instead. Either The Darkened Sea Leveling Guide or Ring of Scale Leveling Guide will have the most up to date information for you.
One of the popular Headshot locations at level 85 is the Minotaurs in DSH. There are two spawns for Minotaurs in DSH. One is towards the Southern Part of the zone in the mines and the second is the Minotaur fort in the northwestern part of the zone. The fort is usually always camped unless it is really early in the morning. The main downside of the fort camp is that there are some minotaurs inside the building that can't be Headshot.
Usually specifically for this reason I avoid pulling anything from inside the building. There are a few nameds that spawn inside the fort and even one outside. The one outside is able to be Headshot but the ones inside aren't. Also the nameds summon which could pose a problem if you don't have many defensive AAs.
The second location you can find Minotaurs in DSH, as said before is the mine. The Mine is rarely ever camped and has equally as many Minotaurs as the fort with an even faster spawn time. Now the negatives of the mine are that the pathing SUCKS. I mean you pull a mob and it will run through 5 other mobs then port through a wall behind you. This is very annoying and usually the only reason I'd ever die inside the mine.
There is only one room that this "pathing bug" stands out and that is the far northern back room of the mine. There is a bunch of drilling equipment in here and about 7 or 8 Minotaurs. The only way to get around this bug is to throw yourself into the room and don't pull it all at once. If you try and pull the whole room at once you're going to get about three minotaurs coming through the door and the other 5 or 6 through the wall behind you.
I have close to 1200 AAs and most are spent in the defensive area. The Minotaurs destroy me when they surround me in this tunnel. The only way I can survive the attack is popping Weapon Shield Disc and Guardian of the Forest. Aside from this one hellish room the rest of the tunnel is pretty smooth.
There is one named that spawns in the large room in the southern part of the tunnel but he is fairly weak and can be Headshot. There is only one Minotaur standing next to him, meaning if you don't kill him you'll only miss two kills throughout the whole mine. For this reason I usually skip the named instead of wasting the 65pp to bring my merc out.
