PoFire C1 Leveling Guide
Note: This guide was written during 2008 when Underfoot was the main expansion pack. It may be inaccurate for players currently on live. It contains a lot of information, some of which may still be useful to players which is why I have decided to preserve the guide. If you haven't already I recommend you read my Live Servers Plane of Fire Leveling Guide. Those of you who play on a TLP server will want to use my PoP TLP PoFire Leveling Guide.
C1 in PoFire is very well known for its great loot, great XP and easy to kill mobs. This camp is most commonly used by Rangers for their Headshot line of AAs. But any class is able to kill here if they want. There are a few nameds that spawn in C1 that hit for close to 800 and a raid boss that spawns up top but every thing else will be easy for you to kill.
Depending on your level and how many AAs you have will determine how fast you clear the camp. If you're a Ranger you will probably be able to clear the entire camp before it respawns but any other class will have a lot of difficulty doing so.
The mobs in C1 have close to a 15 minute respawn timer. For some Rangers this may be a bit too slow, depending on how fast you kill and if you take any AFKs or not (It usually took me 8 - 12 minutes to clear the camp on my Ranger -- but that was before the Headshot nerf). If you do happen to run out of mobs then you will want to kill the Jopals just north in the lava tunnel, or of course go afk. Which brings me to the next thing I wanted to talk about, getting to C1. There are two ways into C1. One is to Levitate in from the mountain to the east and the second is through the lava tunnels.
Coming in through the lava tunnels is risky because a lot of the Jopals on the way in see through invis. Which means you will most likely have to kill your way into C1 if you don't have invis to float in. Killing your way in isn't that difficult and will only take around 10 minutes depending on how fast you kill.
Either way getting to C1 is the hardest part, once you're in the XP is sweet. If you need a bit more guidance below is a map of PoFire and C1. To explain things slightly better, the green line to the right which goes up towards where it says "Jopals" is the eastern wall. At the very northern tip where it ends, above the lava to the right of it, that is where you can float down into C1.
What you will want to do (if you play in 3rd person, or even first) is look straight up and run off the mountain towards C1. It's easier if you do this in third person because you will want to look straight up in first person, scroll out to third person, fix your camera and then run.
Confused? Well I can try to explain it slightly better. What you will want to do is look straight up into the air in first person, this will fix your camera angel up which will allow you to go the most distance while levitating. From here you will want to scroll out into third person (use the middle mouse wheel to make you look at your character instead of you being your character) and readjust your camera angel so you can see better.
Don't worry, you are still technically looking straight up in first person so it doesn't matter how you tweak the camera angel in third person. Now from here you will be able to safely run right on over to C1 without losing barely any ground. If somehow you are still confused ask your guild or general "How does the levitate looking up in first person then scrolling out to third person thingy work?" Someone will understand your question.
Once you're in C1 I recommend clearing the outer bit of the camp and working your way inside. If you don't know what I mean by the outer part of the camp, I mean the two long green things on the map. These two long green things are large platforms which are multiple floors high and span across the entire camp.
Consider them just walls that keep all the evil denizens inside the camp and also let you know exactly where you should be killing. While you're still getting used to the camp I recommend killing only what you find on these platforms and running back and forth between them. This will get you prepared and used to the mobs in the area since you'd have to try extra hard killing on these platforms to get an add.
With about 250 well placed AAs (defensive) and a merc you should be able to easily handle the mobs here along the outer walls. I'd recommend at least 300 - 450 AAs before moving into the center just because in the center you can expect adds at a much higher rate than on the outer walls where they are almost non-existent.
PoFire is also known for some of the best vendorable loot in the game, as I've said before while venturing in PoFire you will not only be making excellent XP but also a great deal of money. If you're interested in seeing some of the loot you get in this zone, check out the bottom of the page.
NOTE: When pulling the mobs in C1 be careful not to drag them through the other buildings in the middle. If you accidentally drag them through the building you'll pull whatever is inside of that building.
