Rockhopper Hide Farming Locations

Rockhopper Hides were added into the game during the Luclin expansion pack and are used for many different Tailoring recipes. Typically each type of Rockhopper Hide is used in a different set of armor with Flawless being the best and making the Acrylia Reinforced Gear.

There are a total of five different types of Rockhopper Hides, Low Quality, Medium Quality, High Quality, Superb and Flawless Rockhopper Hide. You can downgrade the High Quality hides into Medium and Low Quality but you can't downgrade the Flawless or Superb hides.

Marus Seru - Lower Level Rockhopper Hide Farming Location

Marus Seru Rockhopper Farming

Out of all the locations for farming Rockhopper Hides, Marus Seru is the lowest level and easiest. Many of the enemies here will con gray to you once you hit level 40 which makes this location great for people with bad gear or who aren't max level. Despite what you may think, the Rockhopper enemies drop Low, Medium and High quality hides quite often. Superb and Flawless are a bit more rare though than the next few locations.

Dawnshroud Peaks - Mid Level Rockhopper Hide Farming Location

Dawnshroud Peaks Rockhopper Farming

This cave is one of the best places for mid to high level players looking to farm Rockhopper hides. There's only one major downside to farming at this location, this cave doesn't always have Rockhoppers here... Sometimes the Sambata enemies are in control of this cave, in order to make the Rockhoppers spawn you need to defeat the named Sambata in the northwestern most room.

Likewise, in order to make the Sambata enemies spawn, you'll have to defeat the named Rockhopper in the same place. If you're hunting in this tunnel for Rockhopper hides, it's probably best to just avoid that room entirely as to not trigger the switch in enemies.

Mons Letalis - Highest Level Rockhopper Hide Farming Location

Mons Letalis is one of the most aggrivating zones that's ever been made in Everquest in my opinion. This zone is filled with massive valleys and massive hills and the enemies here patrol around EVERYWHERE which makes pulling a nightmare. If you're going to come to this zone it's recommended you prepare to stay mobile the entire time and make sure you can handle two or there enemies at once because there's going to be fights where many enemies walk right into you.

Despite the downsides, Mons Letalis has the largest Rockhopper population of any Luclin zone and it also has the best drop rate on Superb and Flawless Rockhopper Hides. On a server like Corinav that goes up to LDoN you'll want to have some decent gear and be max level if you plan to come to this zone alone. On live servers, or TLPs that go past Corinav you'll be able to handle this zone quite easily 60+ once Defiant is introduced.
