Kobolds in the Kitchen is a side quest that begins by speaking with Lodar the Tavernmaster inside the Hilltop - The Bubbling Cauldron building. For this quest you're tasked with eliminating the Kobolds that have barricaded themselves inside of the Kitchen and saving the hostage that they've taken.

There are numerous ways for you to solve this quest; in my opinion the best method is to Persuade the Kobolds to take you hostage instead of Mara. If that doesn't work the Intimidation is typically the next best approach. Another option is you can pretend to let the Kobolds go then ambush them on their way out... You can also let them go with Mara then rescue her later as well (not recommended).

If you're playing an Evil character you can even side with the Kobolds and fight all of the humans in the bar. All in all there are many different ways to complete the quest and the choice is yours. If Mara dies at any point then this quest will fail and you won't get any reward. Once all of the Kobolds are dead (if you decide to eliminate them) make sure to loot the magical dagger that Hurc drops.
