Klauth the Ancient Red Wyrm - NWN Side Quest (Chapter 3)

Klauth the Ancient Red Wyrm is a side quest that begins by speaking to none other than Klauth himself. To reach the Fire Giant Lair you'll need to travel through Moonwood until you reach the Moonwood: Spine of the World map. You'll find the first Fire Giant Lair map in the north-central portion of the Spine of the World map.

You'll find the entrance to Klauth's Lair on the eastern Fire Giant Lair map; so from the first map you start on that's named "Fire Giant Lair" you'll want to take the exit in the east. It's worth noting that there is actually a map marker for this exit that is named "East to Fire Giants Lair" -- keep an eye out for this.

For this quest Klauth will want you to bring him Dragon Eggs from either Gorgotha or Akulatraxas, 2 dragons who are also found in Moonwood. You only need to bring Klauth a single pair of Dragon Eggs - and you will only be rewarded for a single pair of Dragon Eggs. This means if you try doing what I did and take both Gorgotha and Akulatraxas' Eggs then you'll lose out on some EXP since you won't be able to complete Gorgotha's quest and you're not rewarded for those eggs.

If you want to maximize the amount of EXP earned then you should only bring Akulatraxas' Green Dragon Eggs to Klauth. Before turning Akulatraxas hostile you'll want to complete the Working for Akulatraxas side quest which involves clearing out a Hill Giant Lair and returning the Chieftain head to Akulatraxas.

Akulatraxas' Green Dragon Eggs can be found in the Egg Incubation Pool in her lair.

The reason we're choosing Akulatraxas' Green Dragon Eggs is because Gorgotha gives you the Gorgotha the Gold Dragon side quest which involves eliminating Klauth. So, this means the best way of doing these 3 quests is as follows...

1. Complete the Working for Akulatraxas side quest
2. Defeat Akulatraxas and loot the Green Dragon Eggs
3. Complete Klauth the Ancient Red Wyrm (this quest)
4. Eliminate Klauth and take his head
5. Turn in Klauth's Head to Gorgotha to complete Gorgotha the Gold Dragon

Once you give Klauth a pair of Dragon Eggs he'll give you the key to the room behind him and let you take the Word of Power that's there which is part of the Chapter 3 Main Quest. For whatever reason though this side quest won't complete until Klauth is defeated. One thing worth noting is once Klauth dies 3 chests will spawn behind him all of which have great loot. One of the items is Red Dragon Armor which is one of the best Heavy Armors in the game.
