A Devil's Deal - NWN Side Quest (Chapter 1)

A Devil's Deal is an easy and short side quest that takes place in Helm's Hold, the final dungeon of Chapter 1. This quest begins by interacting with the demon on the first floor of the dungeon (pictured above). You'll technically have 2 ways to solve this quest, you can either banish the demon or complete the ritual.

Banishing the Demon is the best choice because once the Demon is banished we're able to summon a Guardian of Helm using another book on this floor. If you decide to complete the ritual then you'll get less EXP but you'll also be able to choose 3 different rewards, a magic item, magic weapon or a temporary buff.

In order to banish or complete the ritual you'll first need to obtain the Black Grimoire (pictured below). This item can be found on a bookshelf in one of the 2 rooms just south of the Demon, it's pretty hard to miss. Once you have this book in your possession all you need to do is left click on the Altar and you'll be given a choice between banishing or completing the ritual.

For those of you who chose to banish the Demon there will be a hidden part of this quest that you can complete next. In the room adjacent to the stairs leading up to the 2nd floor you'll find a Bookshelf with a "Book of Helm" inside of it. This room is technically right next to the one with the Altar too, but you'll have to run a really long round about route to get there.

Once you have the Book of Helm in your possession return to the Altar and use it to summon a Guardian of Helm who will then offer you a reward similar to the Demon we banished. You'll also get additional EXP for summoning and accepting the reward from the Guardian of Helm. All in all this makes it the best way to resolve the quest.
