Halo Reach (MCC) Firefight Guide - Corvette

Corvette Loading Screen

Corvette is a map from Reach's campaign, it's from the very end of the Long Night of Solace mission. When you play this map on Firefight things will look slightly different since there won't be any story objectives here anymore, but you should still be able to recognize it.

During Firefight you will often spawn on one side of the map in the Safe Room or nearby it. Sometimes though you can spawn anywhere on the map depending on the Firefight mode you're playing. The ammo resupply on this map can be found inside of the Safe Room so it's important you learn where that is as soon as possible.

In my experience enemies will be hesitant to enter the Safe Room but they will eventually given enough time to roam around. Regardless of the Firefight mode you're playing on though, this map will always work the same way. The southern side of the room with the Safe Room will not have enemy spawns. Enemies will always come out of the doors on the northern end of the room and from Drop Ships that come into the bay.

On the northern side of this map you'll find two Plasma Turrets which you can detach and use. These turrets are basically worthless unless you detach them because your back will be to the door that enemies spawn out of if you don't.

People who are playing on normal Firefight will typically want to stay on the southern side of the room near the Safe Room. There are plenty of places to hide on this side of the room and if fecal matter hits the proverbial fan, as the saying goes, you can always fall back inside the Safe Room.

Corvette Drop Ships

For the Fiesta, Rocket, Sniper and other game modes what typically works best is for each player to pick a door. There will be some down time for you doing it this way but in my opinion that is better than constantly fighting over kills. Drop Ships are fair game, if you need something to do while you're waiting on your door to spawn handle the enemies that come in via the Drop Ships.

While we are on the topic of Drop Ships, during the normal Firefight mode they can bring in Wraith tanks which you'll need to deal with quickly. There are never any Wraith tanks that spawn on the special game modes, it's only the Heroic Firefight option through Match Making or a custom game.

As for the Bonus Round, enemies will spawn from both the doors and from the Phantom that flies into the docking bay. The most enemies always come from the Phantom/Drop Ship during the Bonus Rounds so I normally focus all of my attention there.

Extra Tips & Tricks

- When you are playing Sniper, Rocket, Fiesta or any of the other arcade game modes for Firefight you should always use a Jet Pack Loadout. When using a Jet Pack and getting a killing blow you'll be rewarded the Firebird Medal which will get you more EXP overall. You only get the Firebird Medal when you are holding down the button and ascending with the Jet Pack. Letting go of the button and scoring the KB on the descend will not earn you this medal.

- During normal Firefight modes the Target Locator will have its ammo restored after each round. For this reason it's strongly recommended you do not get rid of this weapon after you use up its ammo; if you die while holding the Target Locator return to where you died and pick it up again before it's despawned at the end of the round. As far as the best time to use the Target Locator, typically towards the end of the round. Not the final set because the final set is very small but the 3rd or 4th sets are normally when I end up using it.

- Want some advice on what weapons to use during Firefight and why? I have put together a Halo Reach Firefight Weapon Tier List that you may find helpful in determining what weapons you want to pick up and keep on your character.

- To easily commandeer a Wraith in Halo Reach all you need to do is take out the turret gunner and then hit the Wraith with a charged Plasma Pistol shot. A charged Plasma Pistol shot comes with an EMP effect which will immobilize the vehicle for a short amount of time. Now all you need to do is mount the Wraith and get into the turret gunner seat. This will cause the Covenant driving the Wraith to bail, allowing you to jump into the driver's seat as a result. If you'd like to see a video of this as an example check out my Halo Reach How to steal a Wraith with a Plasma Pistol Youtube Video.

- This is the only map in Halo Reach that has Engineer enemies for Firefight. Between each set you should take out the Engineers that are flying around because the shields they put onto enemies effectively gives them an Overshield and makes them significantly harder to kill.

- Many of the blue canisters throughout the level will explode when shot. There are some by the north-central door that enemies come out of as well as nearby one of their drop off points from the Drop Ship.

- If you'd like to take control of a Wraith on this level it's possible if you're tactical enough. You can either shoot open the hatch that the driver is in or board the Wraith and smash it open. Once you smash open the hatch that the driver is in let go of the vehicle if you're currently attached to it and shoot the driver instead. This will leave the Wraith in one piece and allow you to hop in and drive it around. A word of warning though, Drop Ships will tear your Wraith to pieces if you leave their turrets alive for too long.
