Halo 3 ODST (MCC) Firefight Guide - Lost Platoon

Lost Platoon ODST Loadscreen

Lost Platoon is an ODST Firefight map that's from one of the Campaign missions, Uplift Reserve. This map is one of the largest Firefight maps in MCC and you should expect to see a lot of vehicles on it during both regular Firefight and Floodfight. During normal Firefight you'll have to deal with Wraiths, Choppers and Ghosts; when playing Floodfight you'll have to deal with Ghosts, Wraiths and Warthogs.

Players will spawn inside of or ontop of the buildings in the center of the map. These buildings are also where you can find various weapons and restock ammo for them inbetween the sets and rounds. You can find ammo supply drops ontop of this building as well as various weapon spawns like the Sniper Rifle. Use my map at the bottom of this page for the exact locations.

As far as strategy goes for this map, it changes depending on what game mode you're playing. Let's start with the strategies that are universal for all game modes then move onto more specific ones. First and foremost, vehicles are going to play an extremely important role on this map regardless of your game mode.

Splatter kills are going to save you a lot of ammo during Firefight, especially if the Mythic Skull is on or if you're fighting Flood. In the large building at the center of this map you'll find a Warthog on every game mode. This vehicle is extremely important against the Flood but less important against the Covenant and I will explain why.

The best use of the Warthog is to ride around when there are no Wraiths out and about or to use it as your Wraith killer. In order to easily eliminate Wraiths with the Warthog you'll need to give one of the Marines that spawn with you at the start of new rounds a Spartan Laser or a Rocket Launcher. Have him get in the Passenger seat and drive him around with unlimited ammo to take out the Wraiths.

When you are fighting the Flood this same strategy is extremely important for dealing with their Warthogs. If you don't have someone on your team good enough with the Warthog to do this then the next best option is to have someone with the Spartan Laser and a long range weapon camping the roof of the large building in the center of the map (pictured below).

Being ontop of this roof will give you a vantage point of the entire map and allow you to easily spot and destroy the Wraiths before they become a problem. Fair warning though, when you're ontop of this roof you will be completely vulnerable to the Wraith attacks. They will fire at you from a mile away and you'll have to keep track of them and dodge the blasts if they're not quickly eliminated.

If you are playing on normal Firefight mode one of the best things you can do is grab a Chopper as soon as possible and use that throughout the entire game. When playing on Floodfight instead of grabbing a Chopper you'll want to grab a Ghost and use that for most of the game instead. An alternative, if you're skilled enough, is to hijack a Wraith and use that.

When it comes to Floodfight, the main thing you'll want a Ghost for is splatter kills when dealing with the extremely tanky flood that can morph into hulking tanks or the long range needle shooters. Using normal weapons for these enemies is a fools errand since they take almost no damage (or possibly none at all) unless you shoot them in the face.

Extra Tips & Tricks

- You can find the Spartan Laser in a room to the right of the Warthog.

- If you'd like some advice on what weapons to use during ODST's Firefight and Floodfight modes I recommend you check out my Halo 3 ODST Firefight/Floodfight Weapon Tier List. That page is filled with information about each weapon and what sorts of scenarios they excel in and why. It also compares all weapons to give you an idea of what you'll want pick up and what you'll want to leave.

- When there are invisible Brutes or invisible Flood spawning I strongly recommend you use your VISR because it'll give the enemies an outline and make them much easier to see. Even if it is light out and VISR makes it harder to see - switch it on and off as you scan an area for invisible enemies.

- As your team mates are clearing out the last few enemies collect the Choppers that can still be driven and park them all in the Warthog bay in the main building. This will give you easy access to them whenever you need them and any of your team mates.
