Halo 3 ODST (MCC) Firefight Guide - Last Exit
Last Exit is a Firefight map from ODST's Campaign, it comes from the final mission of the game, Coastal Highway. Players will spawn on the northern side of this map inside of the Uplift Nature Reserve building. Near your spawn you'll find numerous ammo supply stations for the Silenced SMG, Pistol and Frag Grenades.
Enemies will spawn from the South, West and East on this map from both the first and second levels. On the first level there is a large glowing blue door in the south that connects to the nearby highway and two parking garages that open up (one east and one west) that spawn enemies. The second floor has large bay doors that open up on each side and a smaller doorway in the south that enemies come out of.
In addition to the locations mentioned above enemies will also be dropped into this map via Phantoms throughout the entire match. Despite this map being rather small you should expect to encounter Ghosts on it regardless of what game mode you're playing on. Ghosts will spawn from the large door on the ground level in the south and from the bay doors on the 2nd floor.
Normally when a Ghost spawns in on this map it is stuck in the area that it spawns in at - unless a player is driving it. So if a Ghost spawns in on the western side of the second floor it'll normally stay there until defeated because there is no pathing down to the first floor that it can take.
As far as strategies go on this map, the standard Firefight strategy normally works best. Half your team watches one side of the map and the other half watches the opposite side. When you're playing on normal Firefight I don't recommend you use a Ghost because you'll be too vulnerable when the Phantoms show up.
However, when you're playing on Floodfight I strongly recommend you use a Ghost because it'll help you deal with some of the more annoying flood types. In particular, the extremely durable flood that transforms from a long-range needle shooter into a hulk monstrosity with tons of HP. When using a Ghost I strongly recommend that you hang around in the central area of this map like I do in the second half of my Last Exit 1hr Floodfight Video.
This is the best spot to be on Floodflight because there are no Phantoms that you'll have to deal with. You will have to deal with Sentinels though which are even deadlier than Phantoms... The upside is Sentinels only come out during the Bonus Rounds. My advice is to typically hide on Bonus Rounds when playing Floodflight because Sentinels will melt you if you don't anyway - so it's no different here.
For those of you out there who like to snipe the best location for you is ontop of the building you spawn in, as shown in my screenshot above. Up here you will have an overview of the entire area but you'll also be vulnerable to the turrets on the Drop Ships so keep that in mind. As a sniper I normally focus on the upper levels and leave the lower levels to my teammates. That is, unless my teammates are struggling in which case I will assist where I can.
Arcade modes on this map work the same as normal Firefight, it's typically best to split up your group and have everyone take their own area. Two on each side up top and two in the middle is what I see most people do when playing Matchmaking and it seems to work out just fine.
Extra Tips & Tricks
- The eastern side of this map has a Sniper Rifle spawn by the large parking area on the second floor. You can find the Sniper Rifle located inbetween two ticket booths attached to the wall. On the opposite side of the map in the same location you'll find the Rocket Launcher attached to the wall.
- If you'd like some advice on what weapons to use during ODST's Firefight and Floodfight modes I recommend you check out my Halo 3 ODST Firefight/Floodfight Weapon Tier List. That page is filled with information about each weapon and what sorts of scenarios they excel in and why. It also compares all weapons to give you an idea of what you'll want pick up and what you'll want to leave.
- During the Arcade Game Modes that you can play in Firefight it's possible to reach a canopy on the upper levels of this map. You can stand on an elevated planter then jump ontop of one of the kiosks in the area then jump from there ontop of a canopy. My directions are confusing I am sure so I made a video explaining this very thing for you, check out my How to Reach Canopy On Last Exit Youtube Video.
- You can find two turrets on this map on either side of the building that you spawn in. Next to the stairs leading up to the 2nd floor of the building there will be small platforms with some grass growing in them. Sitting in the grass on these platforms is where you'll find the turrets. One is on the NW side and the other is on the SE side.
- When there are invisible Brutes or invisible Flood spawning I strongly recommend you use your VISR because it'll give the enemies an outline and make them much easier to see. Even if it is light out and VISR makes it harder to see - switch it on and off as you scan an area for invisible enemies.
