Warlock Class Guide
Warlocks are the demonic Summoners of World of Warcraft. They can call forth a demon to fight at there side or enslave one that they pass by on their adventures. Something that is very unique with Warlocks (Aside from the demons of course!) is that most of their damage is done by DoT's, which is fancy talk for Damage over Time.
Many Warlock skills run off of a battery, called Soul Shards. Say for instance you want to summon a Felhunter, when you summon the pet a Soul Shard will be consumed. To get a Soul Shard you must use your Drain Soul ability on a mob or player that gives Experience or Honor. Soul Shards are also used for Summoning other players to the Warlock and creating Healthstones.
Soul Shards are also used for one of the most powerful Warlocks spells in the game, Soul Fire. I may be missing a spell or two that uses Soul Shards but you get the general point. Anyway, Below is a list of the Warlocks pets and a brief description of them.
Imp: You get the Imp at level 3, he is best known for his Blood Pact ability. Blood Pack grants a lot of stamina to the warlock and his group. Aside from Blood Pact the imp casts fireballs at his enemies, that do damage. The Imp is the only Warlock pet that does not cost a Soul Shard to summon.
Voidwalker: You get the Voidwalker at level 10 after completing a quest. The Voidwalker is the tanking pet for the Warlock. His damage is low, but he isn't made for damage, he is made to hold agro so you can deal damage.
Succubus: You get the Succubus at level 20 after doing a quest. The succubus is best known for her ability to seduce enemies, this is a very popular form of Warlock Crowd Control. The Succubus has the second highest dps, only the Felguard has more. The Felhunter and Succubus are both very susceptible to melee damage since they have almost no Armor.
Felhunter: You get the Felhunter at level 30 after completing a quest. The Felhunter is best known for its ability to Spell Lock and Devour Magic. Felhunters are one of the best arena pets due to their ability to strip their enemies of their buffs and silence them. The Felhunter and Succubus are both very susceptible to melee damage since they have almost no Armor.
Felguard: You are able to get the Felguard at level 51, he is located in the Demonology Tree. Felguards are best described as the "Warrior" pet for the warlock. The Felguard has a Cleave and Intercept ability, he is also the only pet that requires a talent to get.
If you enjoy being able to control demons and deal damage, you'll enjoy the warlock. Below is a list of all of the warlock pets, and a small bit of info about them.
Arena Tip: Use your "useless" buffs like underwater breathing and see invis on your party members in the arena. It will take up a Dispell Slot when the enemy is trying to Dispell your buffs.
Warlocks Strengths:
- Able to Control Demons or enslave one that they see (Downside being inslave doesn't last forever and can break randomly)
- Able to create Healthstones and summon his party members to him which are both highly sought after skills in groups and raids
- Fear, this is one of the best CC and Interrupt abilities in the game
- Able to level quickly and solo very well
Warlocks Weaknesses:
- If you don't have Soul Link you will die VERY Quickly in PvP
- A lot of multi tasking is required to master the Warlock
- Very easy to tell what spec you are in arenas, If you don't have Soul Link the enemies will know and destroy you
