Priest Benediction Quest Guide

Classic WoW Benediction Staff

This page contains a walkthrough for the Priest quest, Benediction. To complete this quest you'll need to collect an Eye of Shadow, which drops from enemies in the Blasted Lands or in southern Winterspring and the Eye of Divinity which comes from Majordomo's chest in Molten Core.

Eye of Shadow is tradeable so if you don't feel like farming it yourself you can buy it off the Auction House or out of Trade chat. The Eye of Divinity on the other hand, you'll have to run Molten Core yourself and get it with a raid. To begin the quest that this guide is for you'll need to equip the Eye of Divinity and travel to the northwestern portion of Eastern Plaguelands, shown in the map location below.

As you may have guessed, you can technically get the Eye of Shadow after completing this part of the quest. Only the Eye of Divinity is required for seeing the NPC that begins the Balance of Light and Shadow quest, the Eye of Shadow is required for the final combine.

Eastern Plaguelands Benediction Quest Location

Where you see the blue circle on my map above is where you'll find the NPC that is only visible if you have the Eye of Divinity equipped. Before coming out here and attempting this quest, you're going to want to make sure your Priest has the appropriate consumables and talents. I've included a long list of everything you should have/use for this quest below.

For this quest you're going to want gear that focuses primarily on Mp5 and Stamina. +Healing plays a much smaller role than +Stamina since the majority of your heals are going to do at least some over healing to the targets. Stamina will help you out more since you're going to be tanking the Skeletons on each wave and there's also a chance some of the Skeletal Archers choose you as a target over the peasants.

Required Talents:

Holy Nova

Spirit Tap (recommended)

Required Consumables (for 3 attempts):

10 Oil of Immolation

5 Major Mana Potions

5 Demonic Runes (or Dark Runes)

Recommended Consumables (for 3 attempts):

3 Nightfin Soup

3 Elixir of the Sages

5 Stratholme Holy Water

Before attempting the fight for real, I recommend you run it a few times and purposefully fail the quest to get the hang of it. Avoid using your most expensive and hardest to get consumables until you're ready to try the quest "for real".

When/If you fail the quest, it will take 3 hours to reset. If someone interrupts you and spawns The Cleaner (by casting a buff or heal on your priest) then it will take only 30minutes to reset. You can use this trick to your advantage if you know you're going to fail.

Strategy for The Balance of Light and Shadow

Friendly Nameplates On
Make sure you turn on friendly nameplates (Screen shotted above) by pressing Shift + V!

Before you begin you'll want to press Shift + V. This will turn friendly nameplates on, showed in the screen shot above, and allow you to see which Injured Peasants need heals. Doing this quest without being able to see the nameplates is nearly impossible.

There are no skeletons during the first wave, conserve as much mana as possible and use any cooldowns during this wave so they're up again during the harder waves. If you have any Stratholme Holy Water, use that immediately on the first wave of Skeletons since it has the longest cooldown. Use Oil of Immolation on the second wave of Skeletons and be sure to Renew yourself to keep yourself alive too.

I'd recommend using your first Demonic Rune/Dark Rune at the end of the first wave, mana is going to be a huge problem later so it's best to go into the second wave with almost full mana again. Holy Nova each time Oil of Immolation is down - or if there are a lot of injured peasants and use your Major Mana Potions any time you drop below 40% mana.

Priority (#1): Use Stratholme Holy Water, Oil of Immolation or Holy Nova to take out any Skeletons

Priority (#2): Use Flash Heal (Rank 5) or Heal on any Injured Peasants below 50%

Priority (#3): Use Abolish Disease on any Peasants with the purple debuff - this one does the most damage over time

Priority (#4): Use Renew (Rank 5) on any Peasants that are above 50% HP but below 90%

Priority (#5): Use Abolish Disease on any Peasants with the Green Debuff - this one does the least damage over time

Below is a video of me successfully completing this quest by using the strategy that I have laid out on this page.

Other Notes/Discoveries

- If you use both Oil of Immolation and Stratholme Holy Water, I do not think Holy Nova is required.

- Don't get close to the tunnel's entrance as the Skeletal Archers will then all target you.
