Farming & Quick Cash

Location 1: Wintergrasp - Crystallized Air, Water, Shadow, Fire, Earth

While your faction is controlling Wintergrasp you can see the "Revenant" version of the elementals which have a 100% drop rate on all of the Crystallized elementals.

Location 2: Wintergrasp - (Professions)

This is very effective if you have mining or Herbalism. If you'd like to see the path everyone uses for farming Wintergrasp click here.

Location 3: Stratholme - Undead Side

I know this sounds like a cliche, but this is one of the best places I've ever found to farm in the game. The greens you get when disenchanted sell for unbelievable prices. Other items to keep a look out for are Runecloth, Bone Fragments, Crypt Fiend Parts, Healing Potions and any other white items.

Location 4: Scholomance

This is very similar to Stratholme when it comes to farming. The greens you get, when disenchanted sell very well along with the Runecloth, Bone Fragments, Crypt Fiend Parts, Dark Runes etc etc. Scholomance is the best place I've found to farm in the game, I can pull in over 600g an hour here. For information of how I do this and a video showing you how I do it click here.

Location 5: "Feast" Materials (Best if you have skinning as well)

If you have skinning then this is a great way to make money, if you don't have skinning then this is a pretty good way to make money. What you need to do is kill Northrend beasts for the specific meats that are used in creating the Great Feast.

Chunk o' Mammoth
Worm Meat
Shoveltusk Flank
Chilled Meat

Location 6: Small Eggs (Only around Christmas time)

Before Christmas, farm a CRAP TON of small eggs. Since they are used in almost every cooking recipe they will fly off the shelves when Christmas rolls around. Generally they sell for 5-10s each, you can get up to 1-2g each around Christmas. The best place to farm Small Eggs is in Darkshore at the owlbeasts. Happy Holidays!

Location 7: Snowballs (Only around Christmas time)

Another Christmas secret. During the Winter Veil event buy enough snowballs to choke something bigger then a horse. Usually I fill 5 or 6 alts up that i don't play. Now 2-3 months later I sell all of the snowballs for 1g 50s a stack.

Location 8: Tradeskills (Mainly Enchanting and Jewelcrafting)

On top of selling enchants and Gems you can also Prospect and Disenchant items you buy on the auction house for more. Every day i check the auction house for under priced items or ore that i can prospect and make a profit off of. Enchanters can also Disenchant items for people for some extra cash.

Location 9: Eternal Air In Grizzly Hills & Storm Peaks

When your faction doesn't own Wintergrasp the best possible place to farm Eternal Air is in Grizzly Hills from the Lightning Sentries. They wonder all around the bottom of Dun Argol, if you're Herbalism or Mining you will be able to get some herbs and mines from around here as well. Also if you have a vendetta against the Horde or Alliance lowbies usually come here for their quests. Another good place for Eternal Air is in Storm Peaks. Also in Storm Peaks you will be able to get Relics of Ulduar at the same time.

Location 10: Eternal Earth In Stormpeaks

A great place to rack in some cash if you're mining and get a ton of Eternal Earth is Frostfield Lake in Stormpeaks. You will be killing the Brittle Revenants here for their Eternal Earth, along with mining them for an extra 20-40s a kill!

Location 11: Eternal Fire in Stormpeaks

The best place to farm Eternal Fire is at a place called the Frostfloe Deep in Stormpeaks. The Wailing Winds drop a good amount of Eternal Fire (Yeah, yeah I know their name has wind in it, not fire QQ Waah Waah ;D). Regardless of their name you will get a ton of Eternal Fire here, upwards of around 20 an hour.

Location 12: Eternal Life in Zul'Drak

The best place to farm Eternal Life is from the Mossy Rampagers in Zul'Drak. They can be found northeast of the Argent Stand. They mobs here aren't very high level which means you should generally be able to plow through them quickly.

Location 13: Eternal Shadow in Dragonblight

The best place to farm Eternal Shadow would be the Frostmourne Cavern in Dragonblight. The Cavern is at the northeastern portion of the zone just north of Scarlet Point. The mobs here are in the low 70's, which means they will be easy to plow through. The downside is they won't drop as many Crystallized Shadow.

Location 14: Eternal Water and Fire

The best place for you to farm Eternal Water is the Raging Boilers and Boiling Spirits in Borean Tundra. They are located just west of Fizzcrank Airstrip and Bor'Gorok Outpost. These elementals are right next to each other, so you can get Elemental Water and Fire at the same time!

Location 15: Zul'Drak Skinning

Another great spot for skinning is the Hath'ar Skimmer's in Zul'Drak. They drop Iceweb Spider silk and you can skin them for Borean Leather, Nerubian Chitin and Artic Fur. You can sell the Artic Fur for 30-45g each in the AH, Nerubian Chiting for 2-3g each and Borean Leather for 5-12g a stack depending on your server.

Location 16: Azure Whelpling

The Dragonkin in Azshara have a chance to drop an Azure Whelpling, which is an out of combat vanity pet. This pet is worth a ton to the right player, but is very very rare. Unlike the other Dragonkin, these guys are elite. Which is both good and bad. Since they are elite you'll be making a ton of extra cash off them (Rugged Leather on top of normal drops)

Location 17: Icecrown Tripod

Icecrown has 3 amazing farming locations in it, these 3 locations I call the Tri-pod. Two of the 3 farming locations are located on the Scarlet Onslaught island. The third one is located near the center of the zone. First I'll explain the Scarlet Onslaught Cave.

Scarlet Onslaught Cave

This cave is home to level 79-80 elites with roughly 20k hp. These elites drop anywhere from 50s to 1g when you kill them. Also since they are elite they have an increased drop rate on Frostweave as well as green items. There are roughly 20 elites in the cave meaning you will usually make as low as 20g a clear. In the video below, since I'm a Paladin I'd have to wait for respawns since I clear the cave so fast. However almost every other class will not have to wait for respawns.

Scarlet Onslaught Island

The Scarlet Onslaught island is another place that players can farm. This whole island is home to AoE packs and single packs of Scarlet Onslaught. I usually clear in and around the chapel before I clear around back and in front. Some classes won't even have to clear out back near the cave and in the center of the Harbor, since they won't be waiting for respawns.

Aldur'thar Farming Location

The final farming location that is amazing in Icecrown's Tripod is Aldur'thar. Inside of Aldur'thar you'll find Researchers that drop fast and spawn almost instantly. Similar to the mobs on the Scarlet Onslaught Island these guys are only noted because of quick respawn times and their cluster-fucked together.

Location 18: Infinite Frostweave Spawn

I found an infinite spawn of undead mobs that have a half way decent drop rate on Frostweave Cloth. These undead mobs are located near Freya in Sholazar Basin. Generally you won't have to worry about moving around much in this area since the mobs spawn so frequently, however you may have to move around some if they're taking more then a second to respawn or you eat through them rather quickly.

Location 19: Rhino Meat

Another great thing to farm in WoTLK is Rhino Meat. Rhino Meat can be baked into Rhino Dogs which are part of one of the cooking dailies, meaning they will always be in demand. The best place for you to farm Rhino Meat is in Stormpeaks. You'll make double the money farming here if you're able to skin the Rhino's after you kill them.

Location 20: Gundrak Hatchling

Another good farming location is the Gundrak Raptor's in Zul'drak. There are Raptor spawns all around Gundrak which is in northeast Zul'drak. These raptors have a chance to drop a rare vanity pet called the Gundrak Hatchling. This pet doesn't have a very high chance of dropping, but if you manage to get one the time you spent here will cash out, so to speak.

Location 21: Herbalism Farming

Players have three different options when they want to farm for herbs. They can etheir farm in Stormpeaks, which has the biggest source of herbs and the most herbs in the zone. They can also farm in Wintergrasp, which is very similar to Stormpeaks. While I do prefer Stormpeaks, some people swear by Wintergrasp. To each their own I guess. The final Location is Sholazar. The only reason you'd farm Sholazar over Stormpeaks or Wintergrasp is for a different set of herbs.

Wintergrasp

Farming in Wintergrasp will net you quite a bit of doe an hour, plus you'll be able to get additional honor/wintergrasp marks if you decide to farm through the battle. A good option here is when the battle starts, kill the guards until you rank up, then continue farming. This will get you marks as well as honor while farming.

Stormpeaks

Farming in Stormpeaks is great just because you and 5 other people can farm here, never run into each other and never run out of herbs. Since the zone is so large you will almost always be flying around grabbing herbs without having to ever "search" for them. Stormpeaks is my personal favorite zone for farming herbs.

Sholazar Basin

Sholazar is the third and final place that is good for farming herbs. Here you will get Adder's Tongue, Talandra's Rose and Tiger Lily which you can't find in the other two zones. Sholazar Basin also has many herbs here much like Stormpeaks. I'd recommend farming here if you need any of the above 3 herbs that can't be found in the other zones, otherwise pass this up.

22: Places To Mine

As a miner in WoTLK you have three different great places available to you to mine. The three places you can farm are Wintergrasp, Zul'drak and Sholazar Basin. Wintergrasp is probably the best place out of the three depending on what time of the day you're farming there and how many other people are farming there. Sholazar is the second best after Wintergrasp since it has equally as many mines as Wintergrasp. The only downside about Sholazar Basin is it is very open and the mines are very spread out. The final location, Zul'drak is mediocre at best and i only recommend coming here to mine if you need Cobalt Ore.

Wintergrasp

You will quickly come to realize that the mining in Wintergrasp is great. In Wintergrasp you will not only find a ton of mines but you will come to realize they are all very close together. This is great news if you're the only one farming here... But sometimes if two people are in this zone farming and they know where all the mines are, it is too many. The closer it gets to prime time the more people you will see farming mines, elementals and herbs in this zone and the worse farming here will get.

The best times to farm Wintergrasp are extremely late at night or extremely early in the morning. So that means if you're one of those people that likes to wake up at rambunctious times or pull all nighters all the time you'll love farming Wintergrasp. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Expect PvP in this zone.

Sholazar Basin

Sholazar Basin is the second best zone for mining in, in WoTLK. The only real flaw this zone has is it is absolutely huge. Although, that flaw can also be considered a huge advantage since up to five miners could farm here without ever running into each other. Sholazar Basin is most commonly used as the "overflow" zone when Wintergrasp gets too crowded. Since it is literally right next to Wintergrasp you'll barely lose any time farming by switching zones. One thing you may want to do while in Sholazar Basin is make a macro that says /target Loque .

This will allow you to keep an eye out for an extremely rare beast named Loque'nahak. He is part of the Frostbitten achievement and is well known to be one of the hardest mobs to find for this achievement. If you don't care about this achievement then you could probably sell Loque'nahak's location to someone for upwards of 500g. If you'd like to learn more about Loque'nahak and the Frostbitten achievement click here.

Zul'drak

Zul'drak is a fairly decent farming location for anyone in search of Cobalt Ore. Since Zul'drak doesn't have much Saronite or anything else really the only reason you'd want to come to this zone is for the Cobalt Ore. If you're in search of money, try Sholazar or Wintergrasp. If you need that good ol' Cobalt Zul'drak is your best bet.

Alliance Only "Overcharged Capacitor"

There is an alliance quest in Borean Tundra that requires a Overcharged Capacitor, which Engineer's can make. The quest in Borean Tundra is called "Just a Few More Things..." To make this you need the following items;

Cobalt Bars x4
Crystallized Earth x1

So many people are still leveling that they will want to buy these for a decent amount of money. If you're having trouble selling it on the Auction House, you can go directly to Borean Tundra and try to sell it.

Horde Only "Mechano-Hog"

Engineer's can also create Mechano-Hog's and Mekgineer's Chopper's. Horde can create the Mechano-Hogs and Alliance Engineer's can create the Choppers. The hogs are heavily demanded by Engineer's since they give you an achievement and are also a super cool looking mount.

You can buy the Mechano-Hog pattern from Gara Skullcrush in Borean Tundra
You can buy the Mekgineer's Chopper pattern from Logistics Officer Brighton in Howling Fjord.

To create a Mechano-Hog you will need the following;

Titansteel Bar x12
Handful of Cobalt x40
Artic Fur x2
Salvaged Iron Golem Parts
Goblin-machined Piston x8
Elementium Plated Exhaust Pipe

You can easily sell your Mechano-Hog for 7-8k depending on your server, the materials will generally cost you 4-5k.
