Greater Nature Protection Potion Recipe Farming Location (Classic - WotLK)

The Greater Nature Protection Potion Recipe drops from Decaying Horror and Rotting Behemoth enemies in Western Plaguelands. These are the only two enemies in the entire game that drop this recipe and to make matters worse, they share a spawn with many different types of oozes in the same cave.

On the upside, these oozes have a chance of dropping the Disgusting Oozeling vanity pet, which will net you a decent chunk of change if you manage to get it. Aside from these two items, the Decaying Horror enemies here drop one additional item that is worth mentioning, Pattern: Living Breastplate.

Much like with the Greater Nature Protection Potion Recipe, the only place in the entire game that you're able to farm Pattern: Living Breastplate is right in this cave from the Decaying Horrors. While this recipe will still sell on the Auction House, it'll likely not go for as much as the Greater Nature Protection Potion Recipe, which will be a much better money maker.

Note: The Decaying Horror and Rotting Behemoth enemies drop random herbs of every level range. If you have the inventory space it's worth holding onto all of these, if you lack the inventory space only save the valuable ones.

As far as Professions go, Herbalists and Skinners will not benefit much at all from hunting here since you'll be spending the majority of your time inside a cave with no herbs and you can't skin these enemies. Keep in mind that it isn't until Burning Crusade that you're able to use Herbalism on enemy corpses. So you can't do that to these enemies yet.

Outside the mine you'll find some Dreamfoil or Mountain Silversage usually, maybe a Plaguebloom or Sungrass too. As far as mines go, you'll find Small Thorium and Mithril Deposits most of the time but you may also see a Rich Thorium if you get lucky enough.

PvP Server Tip: For those of you playing on a PvP server, this location offers a distinct advantage to you since you can hide in a cave away from everyone. You'll be able to see players before they reach you, unless they have stealth in which case they can get the drop on you as per usual.
